Top Texas GOPer admits its policies will throw people out in the streets

Texas Republicans are hell-bent on opting their state out of Medicaid. And while most pretend the move wouldn't have any effect on their least fortunate, at least one Republican is honest about it: (http://www.mysanantonio.com/news/local_news/gop_budget_chair_medicaid_savings_would_mean_throwing_people_in_the_streets_110942319.html)

Some Republicans who talk about Texas potentially opting out of Medicaid are quick to say the changes wouldn't throw people out on the street — but not House Appropriations Committee Chairman Jim Pitts.

. . . unlike others who've painted a rosy picture of a potential health-care restructuring without filling in the details, Pitts gave a stark answer when an audience member asked about an ill friend who is on Medicaid.

The questioner reacted with concern when Pitts said the state's looking at getting out of the program. What will my friend do then? Will you throw him out in the street?

“If we did exactly what we're doing today, we wouldn't be throwing him out in the street. But if we have any savings in getting out of Medicaid, we will have to throw some people out in the street,” said Pitts, R-Waxahachie. He noted, “I'm not telling you that your friend would be.”

Remember, Pitts was speaking at a Tea Party event in his district. Ironic, huh? But of course, that teabagger's friend is one of those people who deserve the federal assistance (like all those teabaggers on Medicare-funded scooters).

These people are going to get exactly the government they fought for and voted for.

. . . that's a rather indefensible statement, on so many levels.

You're really reaching there. It's typical of the deflections that have been employed here of late. The issue here is the republican's indifference to the negative consequences of his positions; not whether town halls have empowered the tea party. It's amazing how far you reached past that point to make your petty swipe at the Democratic party.

3. to be fair,Pitts is my state rep(In my RED district)
he has caught MUCHO shit for standing up for things in the past.they are trying en masse to get him kicked out and a more "Tea party-ish" state rep in there...no matter that it f&cks them.he's one of the few reps that actually has my respect.

He will convert to our side,if pushed to accept this.
