1. He did speak the truth...
Even if he won't follow through with it.

Recommended.

4. True. Cockroaches scurry when exposed to the light. ...
Our government has had a hidden agenda especially during the G. W. Bush days. Exposing the lies, the deceit and the way people were manipulated will only make us stronger just as exposing "Tricky" Dick Nixon helped us in the 70s.

6. That is true only if the societies concerned aren't corrupt to the core.
Edited on Mon Dec-13-10 07:27 AM by Democracyinkind
In that case, more freely information flow is the one thing that will bring forth the guillotines.

Not saying that I'm for violence, but if the American people had complete access to any and all things that our government is up to then I don't think that the result would be a stronger society but a freakin' revolution.

I'm no fan of the status quo and neither of Revolutions, so I'm on the fence.

But my point is that Barack's quote is only true given that the fundamentals of said society aren't corrupt to the core.

Neither the Chinese nor the Americans would be overwehlmingly pleased with what a full audit of government actions would bring forward.
