Boehner on compromise: "I reject the word"
"Stahl: So you did compromise.

Boehner: I've, we found common ground.

Stahl: Why won't you say you're afraid of the word.

Boehner: I reject the word. "

60 Minutes
--------------
Also, notice the emerging ego by his slip up of using "I've" instead of "we." The man who is third in line for the presidency can't bring himself to say the word "compromise." I need to start living in la la land...

3. Why does Obama keep on compromising
When he knows the Republicans won't?

5. My thinking is he actually agrees with the conservative point of view
The progressive facade was just a marketing ploy to win the election.

Its not really a compromise to get what you secretly want.

6. That's my conclusion as well.
I think these policies truly reflect Obama's desires and all the speechifying and statements to the contrary are merely part of his marketing shtick. If you approach what's been happening (or, more accurately, not happening) for the past two years, it makes sense.

9. Well, you know Obama and Palin actually have something in common
They both have a half term in their past, and that's not a good thing. I think Obama has kissed the Blarney Stone, as he is a whiz with speech, and he has used it to his advantage. He probably figured that he was the only one capable of "fixing" things that GWB screwed up, and he pushed a lot of rhetoric through his campaign instead of actually knowing how to actually do the things he wanted to do.

He really wasn't as seasoned as he should have been, and he should have a lot more nerve than he has right now, otherwise, the whole she-bang is going down the tubes.

8. Yes I can figure out no other reason
for it. You don't just give the other side everything and even more than they ask for and they give absolutely nothing in return ... unless it's what you want too. :-(

10. Because he isn't compromising with them, he's compromising with us
Haven't you noticed, the Republicans are getting everything and we are compromising our futures away.

11. I think it's "We" because the republicans have long had certain language they use and don't use.
IIRC they hired a consultant in the early 90s who gave them a list of words to use and words to avoid.
