Steve King: If We Can't Repeal Health Care, We'll Defund It (VIDEO)
http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2010/12/steve-king-if-we-cant-repeal-health-care-well-defund-it-video.php

Rep. Steve King today explained the Republican strategy for repealing health care reform, acknowledging that, though a full repeal would probably be vetoed by President Obama, they intend to "start marching down through the appropriations bills, every one of them, putting language in them that prohibits any of the funds that are appropriated from being used to either implement or enforce ObamaCare."

Speaking on Fox And Friends, King (R-IA) said that he wants to bring a bill up in the House that's a "clean repeal" and, if it passes, "send that over to the Senate and get them working on the repeal of ObamaCare." He added that despite a likely presidential veto, "we need a test vote so we know where people stand" so they can begin declawing the bill through the appropriations process.

As we've reported, Republicans have for some time acknowledged that a full repeal is unlikely, but have promised to "use whatever means are available to delay implementation of Obamacare," as Rep. Mike Pence (R-IN) put it, citing the "power of the purse."

King, for his part, added that he believes the next president "will receive a mandate to sign the repeal of ObamaCare, and I'm hopeful we can do that, maybe January 20th, 2013."

Tell me again, compromising with Republicans got us *what*? :sarcasm:

1. As they see it ...

Only the wealthy deserve adequate health care. Anyone else is
a drone and they are simply expected to work until they die.

2. Idiots
This may actually be a good thing as they'll be so busy looking through the appropriations bills for something ("Obamacare") that isn't even in them that they won't have time to do anything else during the next two years.

3. Between "repealing Obamacare" and investigating Obama
not much is going to get done.

4. Well keep in Mind Steve King is Iowa's Michele Bachmann
Like her I don't think he has much "real power" amongst republicans, And for sure the rest of us know he is nuts.

6. Does that stinking pile of excrement realize
that Congress will have the same plan in 2014?

That would be too precious, the looks on all those selfish, piggy faces when they realized they cut their own throats and threw themselves onto the tender mercies of what we citizens are facing now.

7. If the Democrats had gonads, they could cut Iraq and Afghan funding in retaliation
The Republicans can cut health care, so let the democrats cut funding for Iraq and Afghanistan. Then they can go on cutting tit for tat. In the end, the government won't exist at all, as it implodes. This means we won't need a congress at all. At that time they can all go home and we can cut their salaries and pensions. Useless bums.

8. If we can't distinquish accurately between
health care and an insurance company bail-out/subsidy provided by the consumers of it, then how do we even debate any of this in a meaningful way?

Health care, to me, is defined by the level where the providers, (doctors, hospitals, etc.) of said care actually engage in medical intervention for illness. Said providers intend to give appropriate care on-site.

Insurance is a middle-man that creates a statistical betting pool with the aim of maximizing profits and thusly, denying as many claims as possible while charging what they can get away with and providing the least of services. In a sense, they have the opposite goal from the providers and tend to interfere with relationship between practitioner and client to a degree that is invasive.
