I've watched a few of the many documentaries on the Muslim "underground" in Britain done by fair sources such as the BBC, and some of it is pretty damn scary. When you've got a small but significant number of radical Imams preaching hatred and violence to the level that some of them do, it's far from inconceivable that some of their brainwashed followers take it to the next stages.

Any arrest before a bombing or kidnapping occurs is treated here with derision. The prevailing sentiment seems to be that Tony Blair wants to create fear, so that he can .... I am not sure what Blair is supposed to be up to, since I believe he he is leaving office next year voluntarily, but I am sure that it is something devious.

It does not matter to most that the last scare was real. Sometimes the scares prove to be false. The only way you can be sure is to let them happen, then we can make light of how "safe" the country is now due to the Iraq War. Besides these arrests are offensive because they portray certain ethnic/religious groups as prone to violence or are being profiled by a vicious British police force.

happened prior to the invasion of Iraq.

The sad thing is that Iraq had little to do with any of these bombings and attacks (other than indirectly by paying the families of Palestian suicide bombers in Israel.) The Iraq invasion now gives those prone to conduct these attacks one more justification to keep things going. I am not saying they would not have found plenty of reasons anyway, since the number of attacks prior to Iraq was hardly paltry.

evidence shows. A number of Canadian Muslims stated similar disbelief about the 19 alleged terrorists arrested in Toronto this past June. Recently CBC aired an interview with one of two Muslim informants who infiltrated the ring, this informant states that conversations about the planned attacks are on tape. Taped conversations are solid evidence so anyone leaping to the conclusion that this was some kind of scam to demonize Muslims looks pretty stupid.
