If you know something about cars...
and live near DC you might be able to turn a few cars over for a profit.

The DC Department of Public works sells off their own fleet vehicles and also vehicles that have been seized for non-payment of tickets, abandoned, etc. They sell as many as 100 at any given time (I had no idea DC had so many seized vehicles).

The public vehicles do not come with keys and must be towed from the DPW lot. The running condition is not guaranteed. They do offer public inspection of the vehicles. I've been watching the final prices for these cars for several months and they sell dirt cheap, and I'm talking under $500 for most and these aren't beater cars.

The state of Georgia also sells off their fleet vehicles here but most of them are pretty junked.

If you live near DC you could get a few of these keyed and with perhaps some minor work turn them over on Craigslist for a nice profit. Just an FYI.

This isn't one of those ripoff sites where you have to pay a fee to bid - it's open to the general public and you can register for free.
