Joe deserved better than he got this evening in Iowa.

The word is that Joe will be staying in the race. I hope that is borne out and that he wins the audience he has truly earned.

I can't speak for or against any Iowans. I don't know any. But I can speak to your loyalty to your candidate and I applaud it. I called you "Ladies and Gentlemen" in the subject line and I meant it. I like your candidate, I honor the loyalty you showed him this fall, and I like the way you treat other people on these boards.

9. Well, to everyone here -- the numbers coming in from Iowa tonight

are not the gauge and measure of the worth of any of our candidates.

If Biden's numbers weren't there tonight, his dignity and mastery of world affairs is there.

It's always been there.

Of the many other good things there are about Joe Biden, I would insist on adding to that long list the kinds of people he drew on these boards this fall to his candidacy. No polling event measures that, but it's the truer gauge by far.
