Time Heals All Wounds....
Having been through this before in 2004 with Wes Clark, I thought I would share my thoughts and feelings with you. I know it won't ease your pain and emptiness, but understand I know exactly how you feel. :grouphug:

I was a Draft Clark person who was over the top in love with the General from the day he announced. He was bright, articulate, humble -- many of the same qualities that I see this time in Joe Biden. I worked my ass raw for Clark, I was the grassroots coordinator for central Virgina, I traveled to New Hampshire 2x to work in Manchester. Went to all kinds of parties in DC. Spent thousands of dollars on campaign donations, donated hours, travel, etc. At first he was the media darling, but then after a few gaffes, the media put him on ignore or trashed him. It was so disheartening. He made SO MUCH SENSE, but the media only focused on Dean, Kerry and the like.

Then came Iowa, Clark chose not to compete, perhaps a fatal mistake. He placed 3rd in NH. Then the press got merciless, the wheels will come off by South Carolina that blowhard Tony Blankley said (excuse my French but I hate this fat pig to this day, I actually got into a fight via email with him, he was a dick!) The last time I saw Gen. Clark was in Lynchburg VA. He looked beat, run over. He was pale and thin, his lips were permanently chapped, his voice was shot. The fight had gone out of him. It was really sad to see, after the huge crowds in NH, to see him this way. The rest is a blur, he won OK, but then dropped from the race with a massive amount of debt. It took a long time to retire that debt.

My point is, Joe Biden is very smart. As much as we would all liked to have seen him continue, he struggled to raise funds. I for one, would not wish that campaign debt on anyone. Perhaps Joe saw that as a mitigating factor as to whether to continue or leave the race. I think he is wise beyond years for his decision.

Don't despair, we will see Biden in a Democratic administration, he's a super smart guy, and I firmly believe that any presidential candidate would be lucky to call him a member of their cabinet.

So my Biden buddies, here's the concession hangover therapy, rinse, lather, repeat:

Cry, play loud music and scream, ride a bike viciously, punch a pillow, take a long walk, get out in nature. It does help to get it out. AND, time fortunately heals all wounds.

Love to you all during this period of hurt.

1. Thanks for that! You have been great.
Right now I feel like I am never going to get over this. Or care about politics anymore.

I know, that will change.

Thanks for reminding us that there is life after this.

3. i agree with pirhana, thanks 48percenter!
at this point i'm figuring i'll write in Gore in the primary once it gets here but that'll change with time...

but to the core of my being it's hard for me to imagine getting excited about a DLC corporatist in the General, though i will perform my civic duty and vote.

thanks for your support in this difficult time.

it means a lot to me!

:grouphug: - oh pulease- stlsaxman has resorted to the cornball "group hug" emoticon! he must really mean it!!!

6. Thanks 48percenter :)
I was so sad to see Jow bow out, I was actually planning to load the car up tonight and head over to NH for the weekend and pound the pavement. I suppose my body (I have fibromyalgia) thanks Joe for saving me from the cold, but I was ready to do it.

I went to NH in 2004 for Clark - froze my hiney - but felt it was the right thing to do.

Peace

7. When were you there, maybe I met you?
Edited on Fri Jan-04-08 10:10 AM by 48percenter
I was there from 1/6-11 and then came back for the final push. Remember hanging American Son CDs on doorknobs?? Gosh, the night of the primary after it was all over, I just crashed, I got the flu to the Nth degree. Between the cold and lack of sleep, my body just shut down. I remember driving through a bad snowstorm back to Virginia on 1/28 with frozen water bottles on my neck and head.

Very sad!!

8. I don't remember the exact dates - it was the final weekend
before the primary. It was so freaking cold. I live in upstate NY and am pretty used to the cold, but then again, I don't usually spend hours walking around in it. We were in Nashua since I had a friend who lives there and could put us up.

10. FWIW...I doubt we'll see Biden in a new Dem administration, BUT
we very well could see Gen. Clark and that would suit me just fine!

11. We're having a fierce storm here right now
Its been going on all night and I figured it would have subsided by morning, but it is still going on. It really contributes to my mood. I know it will pass, but for now I feel as shellshocked as I did last night.

I won't try and think about politics until I've cleared my head, which could take quite a while.
