OK, I just woke up and don't know what to feel
I can speak honestly among friends here. I know some of you have chosen other candidates, but I am going to wait until the end of January to make my final decision. My initial knee-jerk reaction was to go with Obama, but I still have some questions about his concrete ideas. Clinton has made me wary with some of her actions & some of the comments by her surrogates. Edwards has turned me off by being a little angry and not giving credit to those who won the contest so far.

I want Joe back. But I know that I am probably going to have to make a decision and support someone else by Feb. 5th.

What's a gal to do?

1. You have to make that choice, but....
I don't think either Hillary, or Obama need your vote. maybe you should just vote for Joe anyway?

4. I see that scenario playing out.
I am not ready to jump on the media bandwagon.

2. I'm not making any choice yet either
Tonight I was hoping Clinton did well, because Obama was playing the Messiah card and I think he needs a reality check. The rest of the country deserves to have their votes count and if Obama had won NH, the media would have given it to him.

6. I'm kind of back where I was before I committed to Joe. Except I don't feel
the NEED to make a choice at this time.

I flop back and forth between Obama and Clinton. Last night I was all about Clinton, although The Clinton Machine scares me.

And then I remembered the Kyl/Lieberman vote. The ONLY possible reasons she could have had for voting that way was so she could point to that in the GE and appeal more to R's. Totally politically motivated. Contrast to Joe, who we know will vote what he feels is RIGHT, regardless of the political fallout.

And while we're on votes, the no-shows for Obama on the controversial votes. That indicates to me he's not willing to take a stand, again the potential repercussions being the deciding factor.

in this area, too, no one holds a candle to JRB.

7. My leaning was toward Edwards for the populist message
but now I'm not sure either.

8. The message is good
but he can't deliver. He has no influence in congress and his ideas are unrealistic. Add to that, I just don't trust him.

9. I like what Edwards has to say -- the message --
but I have zero confidence that he can deliver.

10. My dilemma
I am disgusted by the race-baiting tactics in the HRC camp.

I don't believe Obama is ready for prime time.

You guys bring up good points about Edwards not being able to deliver. (Don't know about his trustworthiness....)

So what am I supposed to do? Sit it out? I can't do that; SCOTUS is too important.

Damn it all.

13. My feeling -- and I hope I'm right -- is that SCOTUS will be in good hands
as long as we have a Dem in the WH.

When is your primary/caucus?

11. I'm feeling quite depressed...
There is no candidate among those remaining for whom I have energy. I contemplate my passionless vote in the GE for whichever stooge prevails, and I lose my appetite.

16. Meanwhile, even without
explicit instructions from Joe, there is work we can do. I know that in Oregon, for instance, we have a Dem and a Pube Senator, and the Pube is vulnerable and faces a decent Dem challenger. We need to load the Senate with the votes he needs to keep his promises. What about NC? FL? AZ? MI? CA? I know we all value Joe's personal leadership as POTUS, but we don't know how the GE will turn out, and we simply HAVE to improve the balance in Congress. Think globally....act locally. While we are awaiting explicit mission assignment from Joe's HQ. What d'ya think? I have to say, that email from Joe today lifted my spirits.

17. Joe said once "you want bills to pass? Then send us 100 Dems".
Here in NC, I'm stuck with Libby (isn't that cute?) Dole and Richard Burr. I can't even type their names without shuddering. I think Dole is up for re-election this year and I SWEAR I heard her say she wasn't going to run, but now I'm questioning that recollection. She's frozen in time -- looks like she's off the set of Dallas.

Anyway, you're right -- we can act locally and that we must do.

I'm vowing to move home to Seattle by next Christmas, and thankfully there people are more sane.

18. Welcome to Cascadia,

gateley! You'll love it. Let me know when you're settled.

On Edit - That's about the only place out of Oregon I'll travel, and I go there pretty often. One of my two best friends of 40 years lives and works there. If you need some connections, let me know.

19. I was born and raised there and lived there until 5 years ago when I moved
to NC for my job. I YEARN for Seattle -- it's in my blood. I still feel like it's MY city -- like we grew up together. It's really a part of me and who I am.

I'll let you know when I'm back, so I can be one of the friends you come to visit! :toast:

12. Of the three
Edited on Fri Jan-11-08 10:01 PM by frogcycle
Edwards worries me the least.

As to delivering - well, promises are only so good. But I'd rather have him fighting than Hillary compromising or Obama accommodating. They pretty much tell you that despite all the talk of "change" they are going to go along to get along

15. Hmmmm... Maybe I should look at Edwards from a new direction.
Summed up so well -- Hillary compromising or O accommodating. Or vice versa. That's my take on those two.

Put in that light, I would worry less about Edwards. Not sure he's strong enough to lead, but I don't think Obama is either.

21. I'm voting in the GE, but not going to caucus.
Not one of the top three is worth my time & energy at caucus.

And my vote in the GE will be lackluster.

22. Completely uncommitted.
I can't wrap my brain around supporting any of the remainders. Biden was the only whole number.

Fortunately, in Michigan, I can vote just that way, uncommitted. My only other choices are playing the cross party game, or voting for Hillary or Kucinich.

I'm really ticked off about the situation in Michigan, but in this case it works well for how I'm feeling about the candidates.

There are a couple of races I could get more involved in...like the Skinner campaign. Maybe I'll just do that. She's a wonderful woman, and the tiny little bit I did for her in her last attempt was fun and rewarding.
