We here at the JBSG have taken a collection and, generous as we are,
we have accumulated donations sufficient to send one of our number to Delaware for thirty hours with Joe and his wife. After DU_ly polling our number, you have been selected to represent our collective commitment and contagion in the home of Joe and Jill. They have so very graciously welcomed this adventure.

You will arrive around noon on a Friday, spending the evening, breakfast and a full Saturday with the Bidens. During that time you will have the opportunity of unrestricted discourse with the Bidens, limited only by security clearance.

Tell us, if you will, what you would say and what you would know; what you would hope to leave with them, and what you would hope to bring back with you?

Time is of the essence, as your tickets have been purchased for your arrival in Washington on March 7. You may expect to ride the train home to Delaware with Joe that evening.

2. Interesting exercise
I’ll take a shot at this. Actually……I’ve shook his hand twice and couldn’t think of a thing to say except… thank you!!!!....my mind just went blank!!....

I guess I would take a deep breathe and try to pick two things that are very important to me. …..then let it go from there. I heard him once say that “the U.S. was founded as a spiritual country…..not a religious country.” That had a huge impact on me ...I had never heard that before. It made so much more sense to be than what I hear and am taught to believe. If we moved forward as a country from a spiritual point of view then it changes so many things. I would love a very in depth conversation on this subject.

My other concern I would address is American empire. I have no doubt many of the problems we face are from attempting to grow the empire. It necessitates our ridiculous need to spend as much money on the Military as the rest of the world combined. I wonder how he might feel about this. He may just tell me I’m crazy and there is no problem in that area. I suspect he may have strong feelings about this.

I of course would show him DU and this forum and tell him everything I could about the people involved here……how they believe in him. Heck….I would bookmark it for him and get him signed up and invite him or someone from his family to stop by from time to time.

In all seriousness……if something like this were to come about. I would be more than happy to add to a collection.
:bounce:

3. I'd open with
A man stumbles up to the only other patron in an Irish bar and asks if he could buy him a drink.

"Why of course," comes the reply.

The first man then asks: "Where are you from?"

"I'm from Ireland," replies the second man.

The first man responds: "You don't say, I'm from Ireland too! Let's have another round to Ireland."
"Of Course," replies the second man.

Curious, the first man then asks: "Where in Ireland are you from?"
"Dublin," comes the reply.
"I can't believe it," says the first man.
"I'm from Dublin too! Let's have another drink to Dublin."
"Of course," replies the second man.

Curiosity again strikes and the first man asks:
"What school did you go to?"
"Saint Mary's," replies the second man.
"I graduated in '62."

"This is unbelievable!" the first man says.
"I went to Saint Mary's and I graduated in '62, too!"

About that time in comes one of the regulars and sits down at the bar.
"What's been going on?" he asks the bartender.
"Nothing much," replies the bartender. "The O'Malley twins are drunk again."

...Then move on from there....
