lemme put it this way
I was a Bidienite... till he dropped out. At the Colorado state party we were told to be neutral. thus i became an Umpire of sorts.
1)I liked Obamas health care plan better. (still neutral)
2)at Caucus I saw old tyme DEMOCRACY at work. having been the site coordinator I warned Obama folk to NOT disenfranchise Hillary folk or I would toss em. (all went well, still neutral)
3) Watching Hillary go negative, manipulate the press, and shamelessly accuse Obama of the tactics she herself began using.
4)then her endorsement of mcain...

So by Hillary's own doing I became an Obama supporter.
Hillary's running of her own campaign shows me just how much WORSE her administration would be than mcains or Obamas. HER Wanting to change the rules here in the 4th quarter? (to me that is no better than bushyboy)

thus my sigline... NO apologies. as she has none... GOBAMA!!!

1. Our county conventions are coming up this weekend
the same support threshold that had to be met at caucus has to be met at convention, 15%.

Edwards, Biden, Dodd, Richardson and Kucinich(I think) will all have delegates attending the convention.

I don't know what is going to happen. But I wonder if Clinton has endeared herself to any of those previous candidate's supporters. (Dodd has endorsed Obama).

I am not a delegate but will be attending as an alternate and hope to be seated.

2. That's too bad...
there's a lot more at stake here than the presidency....I'll leave it at that. Butmark my words, it won't be long before people regret supporting Obama.

3. ummmm
"Butmark" does that have two t's or a space. J/K

Frankly "selecting" Hillary instead of "electing" Obama would have far more dire consequences for the democratic party, than anything else.

our country "selected" another back in 2001. That did not work out so well.

6. Let me make my position clear...
I'm not at all concerned with the democratic party. I'm not concerned with campaigning. I could care less who hates Hillary. I could care less who thinks she is a bad seed. I'm done voting this year. Some people are just fixated on the wrong priorities.

What I do care about is the effect Obama will have on this country in other regards. It's already visible. Clearly there will be a divide in this country that will transcend what most people are thinking about now.(issue wise)

I guess I'd rather face what I know, than what I don't know. One thing I do know is that Obama will not be good for this country, in any way, shape, or form. I don't think people are thinking this through. Really, I don't.

5. My stubborn tendencies still have me in Biden's corner, but....
I'm a realist enough to think that's not going to happen.

Because I have been forced to choose between two, I have to admit I favor Obama. From the little (I admit) research I've done into the two, I prefer his platform.

Mostly, however, my preference stems from personality traits. I prefer calm and steady to reactionary personalities. I feel Obama is more predictable, and that makes me feel more comfortable, calm, and steady myself. He has more positive leadership qualities, in my opinion. I find him more similar to Biden, although he is a novice compared to Joe. I also feel he is the more likely of the two to seek guidance, and listen to the advice he has sought. This quality again leads me back to Biden, and others like Dodd, whose experience and sound principals are the likely targets for guidance. I just don't see Clinton as being as open to advice.

Lastly, it's a matter of trust. I would rather like to be able to spend the next four years not on red alert. I've spent almost eight years monitoring the misdeeds of the administration. Eight years writing letters, attending protests, sending emails, researching, and talking to others, and frankly, it would be nice to relax a little bit, feeling the government was in hands that I could trust. Clinton has too much baggage, too many connections, and too many questionable decisions, for me to feel that I don't need to keep an eye on her as President.

As I've stated many times, I'll support either when all is said and done, however I would have more enthusiasm supporting Obama than I would Clinton.

Oh, and a big helllooo to everyone. I haven't posted here in quite a while, nor given you all a big :grouphug:

12. Good to see the "frog" back!
As many of us here, I'm not particularly happy with either of our candidates though I tend to lean very slightly to Hillary. I don't have anything concrete against Obama, but I feel very uncertain about him. When he is asked a question that he hasn't been able to prepare for, he comes across as extremely hesitant and unsure of himself. That lack of confidence nags at me as I feel a potential president needs to display a more commanding presence particularly at this time in our history.

I might be more comfortable with Obama if the media were more critical of him, so certain issues could be discussed openly.

13. I share your uncertainty about Obama.
He is green, but many good Presidents have been as well. I think it's his temperament that I appreciate the most. It most closely matches mine.

I just got tired of sitting on the fence, whistling for Biden to come galloping across the meadow.

Actually, unless there is a do-over in Michigan, my choice makes not a whit of a difference, so in some ways, I don't have to worry much about it, and in all honesty, I haven't given it a lot of deep thought like I did before I decided on Joe. In the event there is a caucus or a re-primary, I know I will do a lot more researching and thinking before I take a serious stand.

So for the time being, I'm still sittin' on that fence. But now I'm mostly just enjoying the scenery, keeping my eye out for the first sprigs of green, and playing a few tunes badly on my harmonica.

Yes! The frog has returned. It was unfortunate that Nancy Skinner dropped out of the race, but it does feel good to have the crabby croaker back.

16. Thanks for the visual of Biden galloping
across the meadow!

I agree that being green isn't necessarily a disqualifier, but the lack of scrutiny of Obama by the media is disturbing to me. There are so many issues that should have been front and center months ago, so they could be examined and discussed. Where are the insightful political reporters? Dumb question I guess as we haven't seen such a creature in a long time.

Spring is bustin' out all over here! Beautiful weather.

7. Bidenites have to choose
Inevitably the time comes that Biden supporters will have to choose another candidate. Unfortunately because Biden has not made his choice- there is little direction given from that corner. (Although as a 2004 Clark supporter, I was initially dismayed when he picked Clinton- so maybe Biden did do the right thing). However, in my opinion if you want Biden to have a place in the new administration- then that would be a Clinton administration. I say this because he has given very subtle clues about who he sides with. I think as a career politician, he appreciates other long term politicians- and I feel Clinton has paid her dues. BIden knows the DC political scene- as does Clinton. You can't get things accomplished in government unless you can play the political game. A lot of politics plays this way, like it or not.I don't think the Obama side is tied to Biden at all, and while I would vote for either candidate- my preference would be for the one who has more experience- which is what I liked in Biden from the start.

10. I had to side with Hillary...
Like one of the previous posters, I feel like I did my research and I found much of my opinion was based on the media, but upon closer scrutiny of her, I find that she is a very well respected member of the Senate, Democrats and Republicans appreciate her hard work and her willingness to reach across the isle (I hate that statement-sounds like a talking point). Those who have met her find her personable and I think she will be a better steward of the economy. I like her health care plan better than Obama's, as much as it scares the hell out of me as a small business owner that the gov't would mandate health care coverage for all employers, I think everyone has to be included, or the system fails. That's what's going on now, every time we visit a doctor or hospital there is a great deal of hidden costs to recoup dollars lost to free care. I think she has a better understanding of foreign policy and I think she and Joe have a good working relationship and really think she would call upon him to find a resolution in Iraq and everywhere else we've screwed up and neglected. My whole reason for supporting Biden was his stance on the war. I just can't find it within myself to forgive Obama for holding an anti-war rally when our kids were gearing up to do battle. Had he mentioned that he opposed the war and fought like hell to get them the body armor they needed (don't forget we sent them to war without the proper protection) I may feel differently. He calls that judgment, but I will go with Biden's judgment any day.
I spent much of yesterday defending Geraldine. I still don't see the racial undertones that many in the GD did. Perhaps it's because it doesn't exit in our household. My kids have a wide array of close friends that come from all walks of life - Black - Hispanic - Biracial - Vietnamese...They are open and honest with each other and can have an open dialog without fear of offending each others feelings. So I hope the race card will be put to rest and we get to issue based conversations soon.
On a footnote: Just got a letter from a young man serving in Iraq. He said things are so much better than they were during his first tour and I think he's feeling a sense of pride that has come from his sacrifices and is asking us to hang in there and support them.
So on Saturday I will caucus for Hillary, a stance last December I never thought I would say.
