The media gathered at U.S. Sen. Joe Biden’s Greenville home briefly focused their spotlights today on an unlikely trio of “insiders” – gardeners who were let onto the property to work on the lawn.

Journalists gathered from around the country hung on their every word.

Their report?

The lawn is healthy.

And there was no unusual activity.

The driver for Keener-Sensenig Co. Lawn Service of New Castle County also said there was no additional security despite the presence of county police who were called there this morning. As of about 1:45 this afternoon, Biden still hadn’t made an appearance.

The stakeout is due to speculation that presumptive Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama today will announce his choice for a vice presidential running mate.

I'm going to go back and check. I know he said there was a field big enough to accommodate it, but I got the impression it was just flying over.

The fact that they haven't seen Joe today is interesting, since he's been zipping in and out the past few days.

There's a fairly large field off of Center road, which you can get to from the house without leaving the driveway, and on the way back a little while ago it seemed there was a non-police, non-news helicopter heading low in that direction. (no, not the "black helicopter" kind)
