1. I'm sure they're sad,
but we KNOW she'll be in Heaven.

3. This heartbreaking.
I'm so glad Joe is able to be with her....

This is going to have a profound effect on him. He lights up whenever he is with her.

4. As does she
So much love in that family, it is heart-warming. It was so sad when Obama's grandmother died before he was elected president. I was so happy for Joe that his mother got to see him become Vice President. That's one spunky lady!

I can't imagine living that old, but if I do, I hope my kids light up whenever they are with me.

5. They definitely seem like they are one happy family that truly loves and respects each other.

I have to laugh at your last sentence tho - my 20 year old doesn't even lite up when she sees me now.

6. At 20???
I don't know any who do at that age. You have to wait it out and suffer many indignities before they reach the "light up" stage, if at all. Mom is just an impediment to the average 20-year-old.

7. I wasn't very close with my mom at that age either. It wasn't until I had kids of my own that we
grew close.

8. Also long term separations tend to bring
kids closer to their parents. When my daughter moved out of state, she really started missing me more than ever. She's my biggest fan these days. When she meets someone she really likes, she says, "You have to meet my mom!"

11. Oh my. I wonder if she's been ailing long. I'm so glad he's able to be with her --
being with both my parents when they died helped me deal with it a little better.

He's of strong faith, and I know that will help him through this, too. And he's so close to his own family.

This makes me sad.

12. She lived a long and full life,
healthier and more active than most, but it will still be a great loss. I was amazed that she was strong enough to attend the Democratic Convention. That would have been exhausting for people much younger than her.

13. Read the comments over at Huffpo -
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/01/07/jean-biden-mother-of-joe_n_415027.html

Maybe Biden doesn't get much attention here, but they sure love him at Huffington Post.

15. I'm really glad that they love him over there
I just don't understand why any post about Joe at DU generates so few comments. What does the man have to do to get some recognition from a DEMOCRATIC site like DU? Joe's article about trains at Huffington Post got over 700 comments. Most of the Biden posts here are kept afloat by super Biden supporters and they still don't last long. Very perplexing.

16. Seriously - there is a thread on the greatest page right now wondering where all the green jobs are.
I have posted so many threads about all that Biden has been doing to generate green jobs...but those threads always fall like a rock.

DU is DU. He's not DK, so most people don't care about him.

21. Yep, DK came to my mind as well
There have been some really good posts about Joe and like you say, they sink like a rock, as if no one wants to hear about Joe. I can understand that during the primaries, many people weren't that familiar with him or had a bias against him over a particular issue, but now he is an important part of this administration and he gets no recognition here.

19. Ok - I was thinking about this in the shower, and I think I figured out why.
Huffpo is more like a news site. It's all information by "professional" bloggers. And they post what they feel are relevant news stories. Where DU, for the most part, is people just posting whatever is on their mind - along with what's in the news. So people at Huffpo are commenting on newsworthy stories; people at DU are commenting on what God thinks about Obama using a teleprompter (seriously - there is a thread about that). Plus Huffpo has alot more readers. It's a really good site to find out what's going on, without all the craziness that we get here.

that's my theory on the difference, for what its worth.

Lots of emotion and opinion at DU, but Huffington Post goes more for substance and real news. The shower is a great place for inspiration!

I remember that. He was leaving and then turned around and went back to kiss her goodbye, sniff, sniff. I think as parents get older, one never knows when will be the last goodbye.
