1. Yep
Working quietly in the background. I think this administration is coming together. Hopefully this next year will be much better.

2. Joe is always right on all the big issues. I hope Obama listens to his advice for now on.
:)

3. Yep - Joe told him from the beginning to focus on jobs instead of healthcare.
That Joe Biden is a pretty smart guy....

or maybe just more in touch with what the middle class voters want.

4. AND he has lots more experience
It doesn't always count, but in Joe's case it does.

5. The truth is
that's the whole reason why I never got behind Obama until the end. I was worried about his lack of experience. And his speeches didn't move me like they did with others here.
So when the primaries came down to him, Hillary and Edwards... I saw right thru Edwards phoniness and Obama just didn't impress me, so Hillary became the best one in my eyes of the three.

6. We were both on the same page back then
Though I thought Hillary was a mismanaged candidate and gave some horrible performances, she did seem more qualified at the time. Edwards made my skin crawl and it was difficult to listen to him speak. They don't come much more phony than him. As for Obama, I appreciated that he was very bright and gave great speeches, but I've been around long enough to not take everything too seriously. His speech on race was absolutely brilliant, but many of his other speeches were just good political rhetoric.

I still think he has the potential to be an exceptional president. The first year of any presidency is usually disappointing. I have a feeling we're going to see a lot of changes in the next few months. Hopefully Obama will do some house cleaning and will demonstrate some more leadership.

7. I'm with you and Pat, natch. I was far more moved by Biden's speeches,
Edited on Tue Jan-26-10 01:44 PM by gateley
felt unmoved by Obama's.

When I had to choose between O and Hillary -- it really was a process. I was back and forth several times, but for various reasons, ended up choosing Obama. (I was SO down to the wire that Jim was going to vote in the early polls on his way to the airport. He called and asked me 'who' and I said I just didn't know, to go with his gut. By the time his plane landed I'd decided on Obama, but Jim had already voted for Hillary, so it was a wash. :7)

I remember thinking that it would be PERFECT if Joe became Prez, with O as VP, then after 8 years of experience and guidance under Joe, THEN he'd be prepared to move into the #1 spot.

Oh well. We're lucky -- all of America! -- that Joe is there watching our backs. :7

PS -- I think we all saw through Edwards. I sure feel for those who believed in him, though.

8. Seemed like the perfect plan at the time,
a Joe/Obama administration, followed by eight years of Obama. Still sounds pretty ideal. I remember not being comfortable with Obama because he did so poorly in the debates, very awkward and uncertain. I was surprised to see how confident he was giving speeches in comparison.

Some really good people believed in Edwards. That guy let down SO many people. Must really suck being John Edwards these days.
