Belize takes over as President of Central American Parliament

The President of Belize’s Senate, the Honorable Andrea Gill, is now the President of the Forum of Presiding Officers of Legislative Assemblies of Central America (FOPREL).

All Central American countries are members of this organization, whose main aim is to promote peace and democracy in the region.

President Gill took over the presidency on Friday, November 28 .... in the presence of Doctor Roger Miranda, executive secretary of the organization, and she was sworn in by the outgoing president, Serby Berganza, the First Vice President of the Legislative Assembly of Guatemala.

Belize, the only English-speaking country of FOPREL, will retain the presidency for one year after which it will be handed over to another member country ...

1. Didn't know Belize was English-speaking! That explains why Americans go there to retire.
Thanks for the information. It's a nudge to find out more about Belize.
