Peruvian committee establishes foreign interference in ALBA houses
Western Affairs
A special committee appointed by the Peruvian Congress to investigate the organization and actions of the so-called ALBA Houses concluded that there was interference from Bolivia and Venezuela in the internal affairs of Peru, said Walter Menchola, the chair of the working group and member of the Unidad Nacional party.
Therefore, the committee proposes in the recommendations of its report to close down these institutions, claiming that they are allegedly an arm used for political infiltration, reported state-run news agency Andina.
It also suggested that the Peruvian government declares persona non grata Virly Torres, a Venezuelan diplomat, and bans her from the country for she exceeded the limits of her duties.
Menchola added that the final report of the Committee includes 31 findings showing the meddling of Bolivia and Venezuela. Therefore, it recommends that the Peruvian Executive Branch files a protest with both governments.
