CARACAS, March 11 (Xinhua) -- Venezuela has begun a military operation in the Venezuela-Colombia border to fight against drug trafficking, the country's state-owned news agency ABM reported Wednesday.
The news was announced by Fredy Alonso, general commander of the Bolivarian National Guard of Venezuela.
The operation, named Centinela, will last long and more military staff and anti-drug officials will be deployed, Alonso was quoted as saying by the news agency.
Venezuela and Colombia share a borderline of some 2,300 km which goes from the Amazons jungle to the Caribbean Sea.
