Anyone watching rabs online tv? I just walked into my room,
as I'm doing work in the house, and saw people in red cheering.

Does this mean there are any results? Sure hope so.

Will check back.

1. Also a man in a red shirt is in the studio, who is beaming from ear to ear,

and said the election is transparent.

He's the Vice Presidential candidate.

2. I had to download something to get it. The reporter is saying
that there was a problem with polling locations in San Salvador -- apparently some of them weren't located where the people were told to report. (Typical vote suppressing cr@P!)

5. Interesting. One polling place was going to close it's doors because
Edited on Sun Mar-15-09 05:24 PM by EFerrari
some voters came in with partisan t-shirts. It sounds like FMLN tees but can't be sure. The police interceded and made them stay open and just kick those people out until they changed their attire. :eyes:

ETA: I was wrong. They were ARENA shirts and this one gentleman says that this has been happening all day -- ARENA flouting the law and laughing about it.

6. Oh, wow. FMLN is saying that ARENA recruited folks from Nicaragua
and Guatemala to cast votes for them. Holy crap.

ARENA people look pretty glum, btw.

and that their activity is creating tension among the ARENA folks. He's reporting from the largest voting center in San Salvador.

Reporter says the value of covering this voting center is that it might be predictive of the national trend.

9. In Chelatenanga, an election worker is saying turnout was only 54%
and telling people not to be afraid to exercise their right to vote, propaganda notwithstanding.

Election worker is saying, don't be afraid of the false claims of socialism. :wow:

13. That was the daughter of Avilas voting

and when the FMLN supporters spotted her, they started jeering.

ARENAeros responded with singing the party's campaign song.

It was pretty funny.

Voting ended five minutes ago as I write this.

Now the tension mounts, because the ARENA-controlled electoral tribunal will not announce partial official results for another two and one-half hours.

Turnout was heavy, looks like over 70 percent.

Electoral tribunal news conference now on:

many still in line at 5 pm., voting is ended, results at 7:30, no other announcements are valid ...

14. There seems to have been some successful voter suppression
-- did you catch the poll worker from Chelatenango? He said only about 54% and told people not to be afraid to vote.

16. San Miguel is an ARENA bastion

So mildly surprised FMLN is doing as well as it is there.

Arguing about one ballot now ... intention of the voter, ARENA protesting

17. Is San Miguel a district of San Salvador?
I'm so ignorant. My family lived there and I don't even know where it is.

20. San Miguel secnd most important city after San Salvador

Main coffee growing region, where large landowners of the "Fourteen" originated.

My link also cutting out. Looks like server is overloaded. Probably hundreds of thousands of Salvadorans in the United States have linked up.

I have all these old photos taken at the house in San Miguel and I don't even know where it is. Argh.

So, has FMLN won in San Miguel? The feed sounds like it's spitting. lol

23. Unofficial: Trend is leaning to FMLN

Just on TV, unofficial percentage results compiled by FMLN in various departments:

52.1
64.3
52.5
71
55

In San Salvador 55 percent, nine point lead.

Repeating, these are unofficial and come from FMLN.

Have not seen any ARENA figures yet.
