US tries to create a new file against Venezuela
US tries to create a new file against Venezuela
Posted: 2008/03/18

The Minister of People's Power for Communication and Information, Andres Izarra, warned that the United States is trying to create a new file against Venezuela during an interview in the TV program, Jose Vicente Hoy, broadcast on Sunday.

Caracas, March 17 ABN.- He said that the recent statements of the US President, George W. Bush at the Congress of that country in support of the Free Trade Treaty with Colombia and his direct attack against President Hugo Chávez, means a new phase in the political ties between Venezuela and Bush's administration.

'We start the exasperate stage. Bush has the days counted while Chávez remains in the government, his international role has been reinforced and the mediator role in favor of the humanitarian agreement and peace for Colombia has been recognized; his role in the XX Rio Group' Summit held in República Dominicana also favored him, where we showed that we can reach agreements and solve very difficult situations.'

Izarra pointed out that Bush has changed his strategy due to he directly refers to President Chávez.

'Their defeat in the Rio's Summit has been so hard that they decided to change the strategy with a direct attack against Chávez Frías.'

(This seems to be a shakey translation, or it has typo errors, but it's easy to get the point, anyway.)

1. Andres Izarra and his interesting resume
This is a complete aside, but for those that don’t know, Andres Izarra, the People’s Power for Communications and Information Minister, was the young reporter in the film, “The Revolution Will Not Be Televised,” who worked for one of the private, esqualido TV stations that altered camera shots of the godawful shooting incident at the bridge. Andres ratted out the station and then resigned. Shortly thereafter, he was posted at the Venezuelan embassy here in Washington as the press guy. Then, Chavez named him information minister and then appointed him to head Telesur. Now, he’s back to his old job and kicking butt!

2. His time describing what his tv station was doing was very complete. Left no doubt what happened.
He left before he even had another job lined up. Couldn't countenance the vile things they had done.

Which reminds me of the monsters who were sitting around slapping their own backs over how they had helped pull off the coup, how mirthful they were. I'm counting on their NEVER getting the last laugh. Scums!

Did not know that Andres Izarra was actually in the States for the government of Venezuela. That's pretty cool. Also didn't know he's at Telesur.

You are REALLY well informed: an amazing amount of knowledge. We're trying, too. Latin America, Caribbean are really hot spots now, and I hope they're going to succeed after so much filthy violent interference, exploitation, meddling from the North, from people who have no business whatsoever sticking in their grubby noses.

Bush says alleged Venezuela-FARC ties 'closer' than thought

Tue Mar 18, 7:38 PM ET

JACKSONVILLE, Florida (AFP) - President George W. Bush said Tuesday the alleged links between Venezuela and Colombia's leftist FARC rebels were "closer" than previously thought and backed Bogota's investigation into the matter.

Without referring to Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez -- a US nemesis since he was elected 10 years ago -- Bush for the first time mentioned Colombia's probe of the computer files it found in a FARC rebel camp it raided inside Ecuador on March 1.

"Recently, when Colombian forces killed one of the FARC's most senior leaders, they discovered computer files that suggest even closer ties between Venezuela's regime and FARC terrorists than we previously knew," he said in a speech in Jacksonville, Florida.

"Colombian officials are investigating the ties but this much should be clear: the United States strongly supports, strongly stands with Colombia in its fight against the terrorists and drug lords," Bush said, implicitly backing Bogota's probe.

Reiterating his anti-Chavez criticism in a speech last week, Bush said Venezuela "has railed against America, has forged an alliance with communist Cuba, has met with FARC leaders in Venezuela, has deployed troops to the Colombian border.
