Chavez Says U.S. Candidate McCain Promotes War With Venezuela

March 25 (Bloomberg) -- Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said Republican Presidential candidate John McCain was seeking to promote war with Venezuela.

``Maybe he's seeking hawkish votes, from the right in Florida,'' Chavez said at a press conference today in Caracas with foreign correspondents. ``Still, whoever wins we want to have better relations with the next U.S. president.''

Chavez said President George W. Bush was seeking to exploit recent border tensions, calling it ``the perfect excuse to intervene in Venezuela and occupy our oil fields.''

I couldn't help but notice something of a trend when it comes to what Chavez says.

Here we have an entire Chavez quote.

But in stories where Chavez us supposed to have said things that would put him in a negative light to people who may be sympathetic to him, the quotes are either second hand, not quoted or elipsed ( cut into parts and those parts pieced together with much of it taken out. Who knows what else was said)

I noticed a similar thing when Chavez supposedly said things that were anti-semitic. Is it just me or is there a pattern?

It's going to be a sad day for Hugo when Clinton or Obama takes the White House. Who will he use as his country's bogeyman when that happens? He won't have anyone to blame all of Venezuela's ills on, and suddenly the spotlight will be on his administration, and any shortcomings or problems will suddenly be his fault.
