Rebels kill three soldiers in raid
Colombia increased security nationwide after leftist rebels on Sunday killed three off-duty soldiers, amid high tensions with Venezuela just days before a new president takes office in Bogota.

....

Intelligence services report that guerrillas with the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) and the National Liberation Army (ELN) are planning to attack remote police and military outposts and set off bombs in cities during the week, Paez said.

A spokesman for the governor of Tolima province said that FARC guerrillas shot and killed Colombian soldiers relaxing at a club in Chaparral, about 400 kilometres south of Bogota.

Two FARC bombs also detonated early on Sunday but caused no damage, the spokesman said.

Officials also blamed the FARC for the Saturday death of five police officers and a soldier in southern Caqueta province.

Inaugurations are always a scary time for Colombians as Chavez's friends in FARC like to go on murdering rampages. When Uribe was inaugurated in 2002 FARC fired mortar rounds that landed in a poor neighborhood and killed 19 citizens. Let's hope they don't do the same this year.
