Juan Pereda Asbún, 79, president of Bolivia for four months in 1978, has been sent to a drug rehabilitation clinic after being arrested on suspicion of committing an obscene act while under the influence of drugs, the police said Wednesday. Mr. Pereda, was detained Tuesday in the eastern city of Santa Cruz. News reports said cocaine had been found in his car after he was believed to have exposed himself in front of schoolgirls. Mr. Pereda, a former general, took power in 1978 after deposing the dictator Hugo Banzer Suárez in a coup.
