1. yeah, but they can get pressure cookers now
so there is a trade off. moving and acting freely versus cooking your rice and beans in under 2 hours. The revolution can't handle more than a little "progress" all at once you know.

7. Still at it with your stupid bullshit obsession.
No matter how many articles that have been posted in response to your mewling that show that Cubans could buy government subsidized cookers for years, you continue with your unmitigated bullshit on this.

Obviously, you need treatment for your OCD.

2. This is tremendous. It's a keeper. Want to read these links later today, and save them 4 future use.
People need to know this has been happening.

An excellent man in Florida some DU'ers have known for years on another message board has a Cuban friend who was asked to speak at a Florida University, flew in, then was notified his speech had been cancelled because he wasn't allowed to be in the U.S., due to Bush's new rules, so the man and his wife took this professor for lunch, then tried to make a decent day for him until he could catch his ride back to Cuba.

Rotten way to treat a very decent, honorable man. Glad he already had a friend in the States he could use as a point of reference in guaging how some other Americans might be as people.

Looking forward to seeing these links.

4. Ordinary people can't leave the USA to visit Cuba.
But I understand the US desire to keep the Cuban terrorist threat from random artists and scientists to a minimum. Of course, the only Cubans who have committed terrorism in the past few decades have been on the payroll of the CIA, so they should have a good idea about who the dangerous ones are.

6. Maybe we should lead by example?
Instead of implementing the same policies we criticize Cuba for? From my perspective, Cuba is too authoritarian. Then I take a look at the news and realize the US has more people in jail than China, both per-capita and in total numbers, and you can be gunned down for giving the stinkeye to an undercover cop while leaving a strip club, or be dragged from your vehicle and beaten by a horde of cops for being suspected of being involved in a violent crime, and realize our shit stinks too. At least Cuba knows they have problems and are trying to improve. The US is satisfied with it's behavior and sees nothing wrong with it.

Some other countries with exit visa requirements...

India, Mexico, Turkey, Russia, Ukraine, Mongolia, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Eritrea, Dominican Republic, Yemen, Australia, and more.

You can pick and choose which ones are or aren't democracies.
