Colombia — Authorities said a coal mine explosion in northeastern Colombia killed six workers on Tuesday.

Regional disaster chief Luis Alfonso Tarazona said rescuers searched the San Roque mine all night after the blast in Sardinata, in Norte de Santander state.

He said they found six bodies, which authorities were planning to carry above-ground Wednesday.
