Off the beaten path story. Only in Brazil do these things happen :woohoo:
---------------
This is the clown Tiririca, who is a big and controversial TV personality in Brazil. Last Sunday he was the most-voted candidate for Brazil's federal Chamber of Deputies. He polled 1.2 million votes, almost 87 percent, in the legislative race in Sao Paulo state.
This was his campaign poster.
Slogans:
"Vote for me because worse it could not be."
"What does a federal deputy do? I have no idea, but vote for me and I will tell you."
His real name is Ricardo Franco Montoro, 48 years old. But now he is in hot water because the sour, dour "real" politicians have charged that he is illerate.
So he has to pass a reading and writing exam within 10 days. If he does not pass, under Brazilian law he can be stripped of his parliamentary seat.
Ah, Brazil.
