Protestors greet Aznar and Uribe in Madrid

The two ex leaders of Spain and Colombia were being presented with an award

The ex leaders of Spain and Colombia, José María Aznar and Álvaro Uribe, were in Madrid on Wednesday to collect the ‘La Puerta del recuerdo’ international prize for ‘their dedicated fight against terrorism and commitment to the victims’.

However there was a noisy welcome for them outside the Casino de Madrid as dozens of demonstrators from left wing groups and family members of disappeared people from Colombia held a protest, demanding that the two men be taken before the International Court of Justice.

They carried placards alleging crimes against humanity and showing photos of some of those missing and accused the Aznar Government of being complicit with the Uribe administration at the time. The demonstrators were joined by platforms in solidarity with Cuba and Venezuela.

1. What a photo! All that laughing as Iraqi children are blown to bits and over 100,000

innocent people are slaughtered and tens of thousands maimed and tortured!

It is obscene. If they had some laughing to do, they ought to have sent the photographers away.

Blair, Bush and Anzar--this was the "Axis of Evil" that ended our Constitution, destroyed our reputation in this world, cost us our prosperity probably forevermore and inflicted untold grief and horror upon so many others.

And all of them running around free, and getting paid for their "words of wisdom" and getting awards! Utterly sickening!
