Chavez dismisses idea of political asylum for Gadaffi

Chavez was down in Montevideo today for an hours-long visit.

At a news conference with Mujica, Chavez dismissed that Venezuela would offer political asylum for the Libyan leader.

Chavez said he had spoken with Gadaffi "one or two times" and who has told him various times that he (Gadaffi) would not leave Libya.

Chavez said he thought that Gadaffi was doing what he has to do, "resist an imperialist agression."

Chavez said also that his sharing or not what Gadaffi thinks or does, it does not justify that a group of nations bomb Libya.

1. Even though the subject is officially closed, clearly, you can be sure if there's any angle

that can be manipulated for more vitriol, the right wingers will find it.

Ordinarily you'd have to say that closes the subject. However, they'll probably start shrieking about the fact Chavez has spoken with Gadaffi.

In the end, who cares, anyway? They make all that noise because they are frantic the world neither likes them, nor needs them for anything.

It's good Hugo Chavez made that statement.
