Venezuelan organizations refuse militias in schools
Some months ago, the government set up the media guerrillas. A little while before, it tried to change the curriculum. Now, it tries to impose an education based on military principles. In the end, the government works toward the same goal: to sow its political and ideological seed in Venezuelan schools.

In order to curb this new attempt, several educational organizations announced that they will seek to set aside Resolution 017621, published in the Official Gazette No. 39,641dated March 24, which established the "Comprehensive Plan for Military Education" with the ultimate goal of promoting "education for the defense."

Nancy Hernández de Martín, a member of Fenasopadres (Federación Nacional de Sociedades de Madres, Padres y Representantes), an association of school parents, regarded as dangerous that all education levels, from preschool to the university, are based on the Bolivarian military education project.

Ministers of Education and the University Education, she said, were not consulted. "Even more serious, the Minister of Defense instructed the educational ministries that they should coordinate their educational policies with a Vice Minister. Therefore, educational policies are subordinated to a military body," she added.
