Granted, the Haiti earthquake should not be a political issue, but it was made so by Pat Robertson and Rush Limbaugh and their asinine comments. Pat Robertson had stated, “Haiti made a pact with the devil when it broke away from France.” Rush Limbaugh spewed, “There goes Obama again – he lives to help the downtrodden.” There were more comments, but it's hardly worth taking up pixels on a screen.
So I figured that Fox News Sunday host fill-in Brent Hume, who did cover the story in a portion of the program, would have at least mention the quake in some matter throughout the program's political discussion.
The lead discussion started with the Massachusetts senate race. The usual torpor from the overly-GOP crowd...
During a "tease", Hume did mention the Northridge quake in LA, which happened on this day in 1994.
OK, I thought, maybe they will discuss the Haiti quake politics.
However, with no mention to Haiti, Hume directed the skewed "discussion" to healthcare reform legislation.
Meanwhile, other Sunday news shows like Face The Nation focused on the Limbaugh story with Bush and Clinton.
I'm betting that Limbaugh told Fox News they better not mention his foolish comments... or else...
Combine that with the fact that GOP/PNAC neocon zombies like Charles Krauthammer and William Kristol probably didn't want to bring up the matter, since more embarrassment directed toward the Religious Right's hero Pat Robertson and the GOP Uber-Mouthpiece and drug-addled gasbag Rush Limbaugh might be "off message" for the Fox News brand.
They are shivering in their boots for fear of what Limbaugh might spew back at them.
