I am overjoyed that Kucinich is rethinking his vote.
It is an example of a Congressman standing up for the desires of the people that voted him in.

It has allowed me to actually be pleased with his decision and caused me to waiver on my opposition to his legislating style. My hat is off to him.

I hope his (potential) concession will help some HCR discontents to realize that this bill will do a great deal for a great many Americans.

Thank you Congressman Kucinich for proving me wrong. I don't love you, but I honestly respect your decision on this matter.

1. I agree. If he has this kind of courage,
then yes, color me impressed.

If he stays with the NO, then it will confirm
my suspicions about his true purpose for being
in the House, and it wouldn't be to serve
his constituents as best as he possibly can,
which I would think is his job description.

11. "This kind of courage?"

Basically, the administration put him under tremendous pressure- something that it's been repeatedly unwilling to do with the right wing of the party.

17. How could he cave? The same way most any other Democratic politician would if pressured
by the administration to support, say- a public option, a medicare expansion or buy in or an ERISA waiver for the states.

20. When one has some in their own party that won't vote for a "D" bill,
why twist the arms of those of the opposition party? How would that work better?
Please enlighten me on this.

2. IF he is considering voted for it, it only means he got what he...
wanted...a strong public option. If he votes for the bill and it does not contain a PO then I will have to reassess my support for him.

4. It will be interesting to hear what he has to say at his press conference tomorrow.
My feelings about Dennis are that he will do what he believes is right for the people -- I honestly feel his heart is in the right place.

Hopefully, this means there WILL be a PO option!

19. No, they got to him. He or his family was threatened.
Maybe they told him his wife might have a car crash like Harry Reid's wife just did. I won't put anything past Rahm. He's the kind of snake that would do shit like that. Fucking DLC thug.

15. You and so many others on this board.
You people have caused a major shit storm here. It's funny how the threads about him switching his vote don't have much traffic. Cat got your tongues?

3. I certainly hope he is announcing he is voting Yes...
and, if so, he will certainly get a  from me.

5. Lawrence O'Donnell and a commentator (my mind is blank, can't remember his
name although I see him almost daily) seem to think he's going to vote Yes. O'Donnell said "otherwise, why call a press conference" and the Mystery Guest :eyes: said that his 'sources' indicate that's the way he's leaning.

8. It is interesting to watch this unfold...
Given the recently announced press conference for tomorrow, it certainly leads one to believe the 'sources' are, indeed, 'in the know' and the 'leaks' are deliberate to 'soften the blow', as it were, for his supporters.

I genuinely hope he will announce he is voting yes and, if so, certainly I will say kudos to him for being open-minded enough to be able to change his view instead of obstinately refusing to change regardless of anything.

9. Either way, I respect him because he's one of the ones I believe does what he
things is the best for the people.

And, little fantasy here, maybe it means there might actually be a PO included???

We'll see. I'm glad it'll be 7am my time so I don't have to read a couple hours of DU waiting for it to happen. :7
