I am no longer the nameless night janitor.. (RANT IN PROGRESS)
Edited on Sun May-16-10 12:25 PM by Peacetrain
I have worked as that late night clean up person in a large office building..

It never ceased to amaze me when I cleaned the restrooms, how filthy people were.. wizzing all over the toilets.. putting unwrapped tampons etc in the disposal box. It was hard work, but it helped get us through college, and we made a decent living at it.

But if you ever left half a roll of toilet paper instead of a whole roll, or missed that spot they left on the floor.. it was all hell broke loose, and people got fired.

I always wanted to leave a note, "think about the people who are coming in here tonight, before you fail to clean up behind yourself."

I never did, I probably should have.

So I am leaving that note now. I am a proud Democrat, and Democrats are having to clean up the mess left by the Republicans.

NOW you have Palin screaming about the borders, when for all the years they were in power they chose to ignore the situation, not address a guest worker program..etc.

SO now it's "clean up my mess they cry, its all your fault"

The deficits were never on their radar, In fact it was "good" to run huge deficits according to them.. now when the economy collapsed and we had to us a stimulus to get things going..they are gnashing at the bit about the deficits

"clean up my mess they cry,... its all your fault"

I could go on and on.. from the wars to the gulf spill..

I am a proud Liberal Democrat.. and this is the job I signed on for.. and clean it up, and that is what we are doing..

But for the love of Mike.. Don't stand in front of me and wizz all over the floor and cry "

"clean up my mess they cry,... its all your fault"

Because that is EXACTLY what the right is doing.

2. They are incapable of connecting the dots
Edited on Sun May-16-10 12:48 PM by lunatica
Cause and effect are anathema to them. Accountability is for others only and only in terms of absolutes. Life is either or. Extremes without middle ground. They leave the mess but to them that's their right. The fact that we don't clean it up fast enough is the problem. Our job is to clean up after them. It never occurs to them that they could simply not create the mess. They see no connection in what they do to the mess. They only see the mess itself when the Democrats are in power because that's when the fallout happens, so to them the mess is caused by the people who are in power when the mess is evident. Their maturation is at the level of two year olds who think the world exists to grant them their every whim.

5. The last line, although a bit grandiose, is interesting.
Edited on Sun May-16-10 02:06 PM by RandomThoughts
One of the delusions that some people have is delusions of authority and without responsibility. It gets people to think they are special, in my view, some of the things you mentioned are what authority should be about.

Not making messes, but about cleaning up messes, not for their own whim's but because it is the correct thing to do. If it is about oneself, then it can be a bit callous. I think many things are not about the people around them but about bigger concepts and ideas.

Sorta like it is not to do for ones own whim's but for better things for other people. It is easy to think about having more for one self, but in honesty most of us are better off then at least half the world, so maybe before satisfying ones own whim, a person should help out those in suffering, while also finding happiness.

And if a person is at all successful at cleaning up messes, or making someone's life better, then some day they may need help, and be able to be helped up.

It is like always helping the least, to bring the entire world up, not stepping on people to bring oneself up. The difference of the pile of people trying to all struggle to the top, and the concept of helping the least up from the bottom, till the whole world gets better.

There is alot of that in many songs, and it is like the ideas and concepts in songs sort of help many people up when not feeling their best, one of the reasons I like music. Although I think there are billions of people helping people up and doing many good things that people don't see.

Just doing the good works and trying to make life a little better for many people. So nobody is more special then anyone else, and those billions can see themselves in many songs. Or that is how I think on it.

This song seems like that, where anyone can find part of themselves in better things to give them ideas of better ways. Thats sort of how I think on it.

8. Plus they are still crying big business hasn't been deregulated enough, The EPA
interferes with business which is whats behind jobs leaving the country. The unions drove wages to high and the list goes on and on. When Nixon started the EPA back in the day they were all for it, Love Chanel was fresh on their single cell minds and they were afraid that big business would do the same to their back yards. Now that things don't look or smell as bad time for the EPA to be disbanded so big business can go back to curing air pollution by making taller smoke stacks. Nit wits are useless wastes of human DNA and they are sad excuses of the animal world.

43. People are mostly idiots
Edited on Mon May-17-10 12:10 PM by liberalmike27
Truly, we are falling on the sword of ignorance, and sadly, all of us will be impaled.

We live in a country, where you have to apologize for being smart. We live in a country where reality is frowned upon, and mysticism is required by law almost if you want to run for office.

Sadly, we'll all be going down with the idiots. In a way I feel sorry for them. A lot of them work hard, put in a lot of hours, they don't have enough time to look into "politics" or who is right. All they do is catch a bit of media, which at best only misinforms them slightly, at worst, with Rush, and his FOX buddies, completely lies to them. They still believe it's free, and that they can't lie to us in the "tee-vee" so they think it's true.

Learning/Brainwashing, well, it's pretty much the same thing. Learning the wrong stuff from a source you trust, and that is lying to you, well, that's pretty much brainwashing. It's ain't the stuff of Chinese water torture, but it is Brainwashing just as well.

Just do what you can to wake people up.

7. My 4 and 5 year old daughters are more mature then they are.
At least if I pester them enough, they will eventually clean up their toys (after whining for 5 minutes about it). They know it is their mess, not Mommy's.
I think Rethugs do this on purpose though, to "prove" govt. doesn't work. Mess it up, leave office, claim it doesn't work and govt. is bad.

25. Exactly...
And I don't see how some people don't see it. They always do this They stall and stall until all situations get worse. This morning I made the mistake of looking at Mr.NoChin on meet the press lying his ass off and going through his list of things that the President did concerning the oil spill.

I am not sure if it was him I heard something about the trial in New York. This will be the week of all republiCONS saying the exact same thing Mc Chinless was spouting over and over and over again..They always send somebody out on Sunday mornings and this is where they test their talking points to see if they work and usually the media latches on to it and they start repeating it too...

Edited on Mon May-17-10 08:33 AM by Liberal_Stalwart71
The truth is that our party is also broken. There are Democrats who are putting their own interests before the people who they represent.

And we also need to hold the president accountable for his own mistakes when he makes him. And for the love of God, don't blame him for policies that BIll Clinton supported: DOMA, DADT, NAFTA, Omnibus Crime Bill; deregulation of the media; repeal of Glass-Steagall, etc.

I believe we are just as bad as the wingnuts when we are dishonest about the mistakes/poor decisions that we make.

I never thought of it as a progressive action before, but always the right thing... I always think of the back that would need to bend to pick up after me, whether it's the ladies room at work, or a hotel room... I make sure everything is off the floor... towels in the sink or over the shower curtain rod.

I always wondered if people noticed or appreciated... after reading this OP, I think I know now.

Thanks for a great OP!

What a wonderful analogy for the work that needs done, and the obstructionist crew that would never think of the person that will clean up after them.
