Hickenlooper taps CSU-Pueblo's president as gubernatorial running mate
Democrat John Hickenlooper today announced the the president of CSU-Pueblo as his running mate, a move hailed as "brilliant" by those who know Joe Garcia.

"Joe doesn't just love Colorado — he lives Colorado," Hickenlooper said as when he introduced Garcia outside his campaign headquarters.

The crowd was filled with Hispanics thrilled at the choice — if elected, Garcia would be the state's first Hispanic lieutenant governor.

Garcia has been president of Colorado State University at Pueblo since 2006. He called the post a "dream job," and admitted he originally turned down the officer from Hickenlooper.
