Blue Dog Democrats back Raby

Democratic 5th Congressional District candidate Steve Raby has the endorsement of the Blue Dog Coalition, a group of conservative Democrats in the U.S. House.

“Those of us who know Steve Raby know that he will bring the kind of independent-minded leadership important to Alabamians,” said U.S. Rep. John Tanner, D-Tenn., a co-founder of the Blue Dog Coalition.

For his part, Raby of Huntsville said he is honored by the endorsement and called the caucus a model for the type of bipartisan approach needed in Congress.

Former U.S. Rep. Bud Cramer, D-Huntsville, was a co-founder of the Blue Dog Coalition and used his centrist position to work both sides of the aisle and secure committee assignments protecting Redstone Arsenal and Marshall Space Flight Center.
