Betting on Amnesia
Betting on Amnesia

Frank Rich: "Betting on amnesia is almost always a winning, not a losing, wager in America. Angry demonstrators at health care town-hall meetings didn't remember that Medicare is a government program, and fewer and fewer voters of both parties recall that the widely loathed TARP was a Bush administration creation supported by the G.O.P. Congressional leadership. So many Republicans don't know Obama is a natural citizen -- 41 percent in a poll last week -- that we must (charitably) assume some of them have forgotten that Hawaii was granted statehood. The G.O.P. chairman is sufficiently afflicted with amnesia that he matter-of-factly regaled an audience with the counterfactual observation that the war in Afghanistan, Bush's immediate response to 9/11, began under Obama."

1. One thing that bothers me
How can the GOP be gaining seats when they are such a total train wreck? I will never understand what drives voters in this country.

2. How many seats have they "gained"?
Scott Brown's is about the only one I can think of. They didn't get Murtha's. Will they get some in Novemeber? Probably. We picked up some seats we couldn't really hold through a recession. But some of the seats we're "losing" barely qualified as "having" in the first place. Lincoln hardly qualified as "holding" a seat, and we only got Specter's for about 2 years because the GOP rejected him. It wasn't exactly a "solid" seat.

I still wonder how many of the seats will switch, the GOP is a train wreck, and the baggers are forcing them to run some real nut jobs.

6. I do
And the baggers have lost races. They are also losing current races. And they have unseated some GOP incumbents. They aren't doing well in political terms.

3. I blame it on faux and people like rush, coupled with the
willful ignorance of the listeners. They don't seem to care to actually inform themselves but will jump as high as they're told to.

5. Those people vote GOP no matter what

It is the swing voters that have me flummoxed. It is like the arsonist is taunting the firefighters for not putting their fire out fast enough. How could anybody not see what is happening?

7. Just keep in mind the spin we're being subjected to also.
Lots of people contend indies are voting rethug, yet I don't see any definitive facts to support that.

We're being handed a load of crap and expected to swallow it a la faux viewers. I'm not sure what swing voters are doing; I guess we'll see.

8. Oh yeah Newt Gingrich is really counting on that if he
thinks he can run for the presidency,. He says he is a family values man and is criticizing the overturning of Prop 8. While he divorced his first wife while she was in the hospital with cancer. And we all know about he other wives.

Then does he think people will forget why he resigned from congress. You know that scam he had with that college. Then they have the bare faced nerve to say Obama should be impeached. I have one question about those scum...ON WHAT GROUNDS.

In my opinion each and every republican considering a run have more against them to be impeached before they even get the nod. So they should run ....RUN AND HIDE.
