Republican Bob Vander Plaats says he won’t make an independent run for governor but instead will work to unseat three Iowa Supreme Court justices.

Vander Plaats, who lost the Republican nomination for governor in June to Terry Branstad, also did not endorse the former governor.

It was unclear if Vander Plaats will launch his own organization to convince voters to reject the judicial reappointments or if he will join other groups. He said today he will likely offer more details next week.

His main reason is the issue of marriage rights for same-sex couples.

how close this thing in Iowa could go.. and why it was so important to stay focused and not stay home to punish the Democrats.. or worse yet.. vote republican to teach them a lesson because there is "no difference between the parties"

As an Iowan.. we could go hurtling backwards very quickly if people decide to stay home.. the right is juiced.
