Some in the "professional left" mimic the main stream media.
In an effort to not be characterized as the "liberal media", they overcompensate to the point that they come across as right leaning.

Some in the left, in an effort to come across as very progressive and absolutely non-centrist, bitch and moan so they can say they are holding the president's feet to the fire.

4. they are happy with whatever gives them sensational press.
and citing Obama's good deeds so far isn't going to get them that.

but if a 'liberal' says Obama is just like bush or some other putrid fucked up shit, he gets camera time because the media just loves the fact that 'everyone' is abandoning the socialist corporate black weak kneed president.

5. What a complicated theory
Edited on Wed Aug-11-10 10:25 PM by 30rock
Let me see if I follow you:

The MSM does not want to be be seen as Left-wing (even though most of us agree that the MSM isn't Left-wing anyway), so they act right-wing, while the Left, not wanting to be seen as Right-wing or centrist (which they aren't anyway), act as if they are what they are (Left-wing).

Or something like that. So where is the similarity?

8. True, and others try to grab attention with sensational statements
that may or may not be reality-based.

Still others accept and repeat the false assumptions of the corporate press. For example, after the BP Gulf gusher, Obama made a powerful statement to move the country away from fossil fuels and reject the Reagan anti-government philosophy. But somewhere, somebody complained that he should have told the country to get off fossil fuels and made a stronger ideological argument. Even though he did. It was like they wrote their criticism without ever hearing the speech. But the narrative spread, even among progressives, completely disconnected from what Obama actually said.

There's a problem when the "complain about everything all the time" mentality becomes disconnected from the reality of what Obama does and says.
