These MUTHERFUCKING Media Pieces Of Fucking Garbage
Edited on Sun Aug-15-10 08:39 PM by Beetwasher
Had no problems whatsoever plastering pictures of Chimpy with a bulging codpiece and a plastic turkey. And they had no problem shoving these images down your throat until you spewed. But NOW...NOW they have problems with the legitimacy of White House images??? Oh, now, all of a sudden they get religion and have problems because they claim they can't verfiy the authenticity??? Really?? Oh FUCKING REALLY? They are going to fucking play it like that, are they? Mutherfuckers. If I could, I swear, I would bludgeon the fucking corporate media to death with a spiked fucking club. Those fuckers. Those fucking fucker fuckers.

'mountain' Obama expected to climb, but even he couldn't have imagined this. For those who didn't click on the link...

So apparently the AP and NYT decided they couldn't share the picture of the President and Sasha in the water in the Gulf because THEY didn't take the pictures. They claim that they can't even trust that the picture is REALLY of President Obama in the Gulf. They "claim" it's about "transparency".

Lots more but you get the gist.

Edited on Mon Aug-16-10 12:30 PM by Beetwasher
How the hell would regulating media rectify this type of hypocritical bullshit? You think regulating the media would mean Obama could force them to publish WH photos? On what planet?

This has nothing to do with regulation, it has to do with an obnoxious double standard and hypocrisy of the corporate media.

"authenticity?" Or perhaps even, as a fellow-DUer posted,

"The place were this pic was taken was at a place called Grand Lagoon. It is a protected area that has limited Gulf water access and in fact has a positive flow rate into the Gulf. When the tar balls were coming ashore at Panama City Beach, they did so from a SSW direction. That direction is cut off from the Grand Lagoon by land masses."

Places that were completely untouched by a tar ball or a drop of dispersant. Lots of hotels are offering a oil free guarantee. If there's a drop or whiff of oil, you get your money back. It's really irresponsible to the people of the gulf to act as if the entire thing is awash in black goo.

PUTIN! If he doesn't go in the water he is too selfish to help the Gulf real estate owners who want to get back to charging ridiculously high rents for beach property. If he is photographed in swim trunks its an ego thing, or its NOT PRESIDENTIAL and he loses gravitas.

Be sure and set up the situation so that he loses either way.

It was all planned back when he was a kid in Kenya...he persuaded his atheist mother to move to Hawaii where he could get himself photographed with a young actress pretending to be his daughter so that he could use it later when he knew he wouldn't actually be able to swim in the water bacause of the oil spill that he would cause.

Edited on Mon Aug-16-10 02:17 PM by newspeak
to "sell" his bogus war, just like some damn commodity. I really love how the media portrayed Little Boots as a hero standing on the rubble at the trade center--when he couldn't even be bothered to respond to the august PDB or even appear to raise security as a heads up. And, I really love how the media, especially Tweety, ooohed and aaahed over Little Boots in his flight suit. How every woman in the US was just enamored at the hunka hunka burning love. Then there were the talking heads comparing Little Boots to Eisenhower, Truman, and deity forbid, FDR. For what? For doing absolutely fekkin nothing. Oh wait, starting wars with bogus intel. And, PR industry made a big fekkin profit selling the people "the war on terror." So, catchy with the 9-1-1 theme.

Couldn't just take out the alleged terrorists, no, we had to terrorize a whole country. Couldn't cut off funding terrorism, no we had to destroy innocent civilians and infrastructure.

It's true our media today more than ever is in the business of making money. But, it's how some of them make money--remember they are giant corporations with other business interests, and some of those interests includes war profiteering. They are not giving the people what they want, they are giving the people what will enhance their business interests. As they "sell" political candidates to the public, and we eventually have a choice of Brand A and Brand B.

Oh, and a majority of us Americans would rather have a beer with him than with Al Gore...

White House Refused to Allow Still Photography at Bush Speech

PDN Online | January 12, 2007

Daryl Lang

NEW YORK The White House broke with tradition Wednesday night and refused to let photojournalists shoot still pictures of the president at the podium after his prime-time address on the Iraq war.

As a result, newspapers and wire services had little choice but to run low-quality frame grabs from the video of the speech. An official handout photo from the White House, which most news outlets rejected, was the only other option. Caught in a bind on deadline, some newspapers ran the official White House photo with no disclosure that it was provided by the government.

The Associated Press and Reuters, who refused to accept the handout photo, sent their members notices explaining that frame grabs from the White House video pool would be their only photo coverage of the speech.

"Reuters News Pictures regrets that due to restrictions imposed by the White House, Reuters will not be able to provide still photographs from President Bush's White House address on Iraq," the Reuters bulletin said.

If they banned journalists from that event and that picture was taken by Bush's official photographer, and the AP sent it out for publication, then you have made your point. But I don't believe that's the way it happened.

68. That's A Load Of Crap, The NYT PUBLISHED THE FUCKING PICTURE On The Front Page
Edited on Mon Aug-16-10 02:58 PM by Beetwasher
Yes, it came out later and was revealed it was fake only AFTER it was published on the front page.

And that's just one example of the double standard. NYT had no problems being stenographers for Bushco. Remember Judy Miller? Now they're concerned about authenticity?

69. "when did the liberal press ever dissect photo props used by Klinton?"
Back and forth, back and forth. They're mean to our guy, they were so easy on the other guy.

Just wait for the next GOP president, Pierce Bush or whoever it is, they'll be saying "how come they're questioning poor Pierce when they never questioned President (Malia) Obama?"

When did the liberal press ever dissect photo props used by Klinton? Give me a break!

Edited on Mon Aug-16-10 03:00 PM by Beetwasher
Should I continue? My my you have a short memory. You really think the media treated Bush with the same "skepticism" they're showing Obama? What fucking planet do you live on?

Judy Miller and many other failures. As mentioned upthread, the failure to report what Bush did when informed of 9/11, for example.

Edited on Mon Aug-16-10 03:06 PM by Beetwasher
Thanks. Not sure what you're point is then. It's clear there's a double standard, or do you deny that?

73. no, very different points
for me, media failures are when they do something that fail by journalistic standards.

For you and those freepers, media failures are when they do something you see as anti-Obama or they see as anti-Bush.

74. My Point Obviously Is Over Your Head, It's The Double Standard
Edited on Mon Aug-16-10 03:12 PM by Beetwasher
One unquestioning standard for Bush in which they regurgitated whatever the Bush admin. wanted them to and another skeptical standard for Obama where everything is questioned and put under a microscope or examined through the lens of Repub talking points.

You are apparently ok with that.

to use the photo. Their reasoning is absurd. When you are talking about family photos.....the president has every right to limit access.

76. It's going to get worse
as we near November and it's going to be worse yet as 2012 nears.

There is so precious little positive news on what Obama and his people have accomplished and what they have had to face in the many disasters Bush and his predessesors had left him.

Just this morning on CNN (they are non stop question Everything Obama - I expect them to catch a pic of him putting his socks on and complain that he PUts his Left Sock on First. That is Partisan!) Jessica Yelling (another mouthpiece that I just can't stomach, what a twister piece of shit reporter) got some treabagger list from somehwere about how Obama was the worst president ever and goes down the list to give them free advertising. One of which was that Obama is causing a race division.

I want a shotgun for Xmas. and an old tv that I can bust up.

Anyone who mimics the hours and hours of continuous obama bashing from CNN, and brings it here ought to be fucking ashamed of their stupidity.

Edited on Mon Aug-16-10 04:56 PM by w4rma
It's been pretty awful watching the DLC train wreck us, again, like it was 1996.

Everyone I know have grown to dislike Obama, and they all voted for him. And I never spoke to them about Obama once, before.

It's all about the honesty.

And ignoring their failures won't help us fix them before the next election, and especially not this election.

95. That is the most intelligent comment in the whole thread...
I've been watching the Left & the Right trade shots since the 60's. I just can't get excited about it anymore. The same Democrats who gave Bush everything he wanted don't know how to change things because they've been doing it this way since they took office. They must have figured that redirecting some funding would solve everything, when they needed to clamp down on business as usual, entirely. The Republicans are too busy snorting coke off of hooker's asses to give a shit about the country. They are all in the same country club and the political drama is just the circus for the masses.

As long as the rich can get their luxuries somewhere in the world, and their personal on/off ramps near their homes, they have no motivation to fix anything.

Right now, if people hit the streets, I think they'd just let the cities burn. There isn't anything to protect, anymore, except people and, you know, who needs them?
