Ted Olsen widower: Obama is RIGHT about the muslim center
Now heres a guy who is a right winger at heart and lost his wife in the 9 11 attack. But he's a lawyer and is looking at the Constitutionality of this.I respect him even though I don't agree with his politics. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/08/18/liz-cheneys-keep-america-_n_686697.html

1. Most people think Obama is right when he says it is constitutional.
At question is the wisdom of the choice.

7. actually, at question is the wisdom of opposing it.
the choice to build it was made as a wonderful symbol of peace, reconciliation, and disavowal of any religious role in the 9/11 attacks for and from the islamic-american community. it is a show of unity, community, peace, and solemnity.

the question is, are those who oppose it so steeped in anti-islamic bigotry that they can't see a peaceful gesture when it is presented to them? NO ONE IN ANY WAY ASSOCIATED WITH THE ISLAMIC COMMUNITY CENTER HAD ANYTHING TO DO WITH 9/11 so how on earth could this possibly be offensive UNLESS one insists on tarring all of islam with ridiculous negative stereotypes on the basis of criminal acts of 19 psychotics.

4. Ted Olsen is definitely not the crazy wingnut I thought he was way back
when. He's definitely a conservative, but he's a reasonable one and I certainly can't fault someone for having a different point of view or political ideology than I do. It's the crazed wingnuts who say hateful things and lie every time they open their mouths, that I can't stand.

Good for you, Ted Olsen!
