Poll: Majority wants tax cuts eliminated for wealthy, extended for others

Poll: Majority wants tax cuts eliminated for wealthy, extended for others
By Jordan Fabian - 08/20/10 08:10 AM ET

Fifty-one percent of adults believe that the Bush tax cuts should be allowed to expire for wealthy families, but should be extended for middle- and lower-class families.

A CNN/Opinion Research poll released Friday showed a narrow majority for one option lawmakers are considering for handling the Bush tax cuts, which are set to expire at the end of this year.

Asked which of the following statements comes closest to their view, 51 percent said "those tax cuts should continue for families that make less than 250 thousand dollars a year, but taxes should rise to the previous level for families who make more than that amount."

10. The original poll wasn't there but you also have those that want all of them to go
Those folks (like me) might get you to 65% or so for some or all framing.

Unfortunately, we are chock full of economic royalists and cult like devotees to our national secular religion but most people get that this is madness.

8. Remind everyone that those above the $250k will still receive the same
tax cuts of those below $250k.

Everyone married filing jointly will have the first $11,400 exempt from income tax.

Will have the first $16,700 of taxable income after all deductions and exemptions are applied taxed at 10%, the next $51,200 ($16,700 - $67,900) taxed at 15%, the next $69,150 ($67,900 - $137,050) taxed at 25%, and the next $71,800 ($137,050 - $208,850) at 28%.
