It was two years ago tonight,
The most exciting thing I have ever witnessed. The Democratic Convention at Mile High Stadium.

Just where is that hope, enthusiasm and excitement now?

1. That hope and enthusiasm is right
here, in my heart, sitting in this chair, listening to the "Reclaiming the Dream" (counter) rally across town via Talking Points Memo video stream.

2. Tempered...
...by reality.

Life's always easier and more fun if you're in the opposition.

3. That's life. All those people who were there
and feels disappointed now, should go back and listen to Obama's speech. They'll see that what he said there is exactly what's happening. Lofr isn't a movie.

4. Exactly. I think more people should relisten to his speeches. Maybe instead of
projecting or imagining what they heard they will hear his actual words like I did. Obama has governed as I expected. I wish there was more progress on LBGT rights, but otherwise he has accomplished
a lot of what he said he would.

12. I've got the text of the speech right here: "I will recruit an army of new teachers
and pay them higher salaries, and give them more support."
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/08/28/us/politics/28text-obama.html?pagewanted=4

When did this happen?

"which is why I've laid out how I'll pay for every dime: by closing corporate loopholes and tax havens that don't help America grow."

Closed corporate tax loopholes? He's been the banker's best friend.

"We measure progress by how many people can find a job that pays the mortgage, whether you can put a little extra money away at the end of each month so you can someday watch your child receive her college diploma."

By his own measure he has made no progress. Done nothing but hemorrhage jobs and continue foreclosures since taking office.

5. It's still here with a dose of reality that there are a lot of things
in our goverment that are broken and all can't be fixed overnight.

7. we were just a section apart...
Well then President Obama started cow towing to wall street and big banking. We learned he was Not the angry, Radical, black FDR we were voting/Hoping for.

Take HCR for instance... Yes he got it passed... A Watered down half assed version passed... the very same way a strong single payer version would have had to pass.

In short President Obama takes far to long to realize just how much the right hates him. Trying (In vain) to bring them to their senses.

I would like America to come together too. But Realistically the right has to come a little left. as I have had to settle with being pushed right for far too long.

11. All pissed away in supply side economic nonsense, neoliberal militarism, and rightwing capitulation
The ideals espoused in that great speech just lipstick on a corporate pig.

POOF!

GONE LIKE THE WIND INTO THE MOUNTAIN AIR.

Just words to play on receptive emotions and the aspirations of desperate souls.

13. The collapse of the US and global economy fucked up everything..
There is still hope but the highest priority is keeping the economy stable otherwise nothing else matters.
