Roger Ebert's pro gay marriage article

The first time I heard gay marriage mentioned, I was incredulous. Two gay people couldn't get married! It simply...well, it wasn't done. I wasn't objecting to their homosexuality. I was objecting to the disturbance caused to my mental categories. snip

1. Roger Ebert is an honest man. Who had a wise mother.
He is too kind to Obama in one regard, however, when he claims "He supports the civil rights but opposes gay marriage while citing his church's teachings." Obama has never bothered to cite any teachings of any Church on this subject, simply his own view that Christianity demands this bigoted view. The only Church that was 'his' taught inclusion and practiced what they preached. Equality is a basic teaching at Trinity UCC. Since leaving that Chruch, Obama has not indentified with another, nor with a denomination nor teacher. So I have to correct Mr Ebert, because Obama cites absolutely nothing but his own damn opinion when he states his opposition to equality. He does not even explain beyond claiming all Christians are bigoted like that, which is not the case. It simply is not the case. He cites no Church and no teachings. He simply opposes in the name of Jesus, who never said a word against gay people. The man he does 'cite' was silent on the subject, but said to love all and never judge others. Said to look to your own soul, not pick at your neighbor's.

Nice to see Ebert's still chugging along, in spite of his cancer.
