Quite a few people are out of work and angry at anyone in power. Their anger may be misdirected (IOW, they're blaming the wrong guy), but it isn't because he has a deep tan.

The two sets obviously overlap a great deal... But they aren't the same thing.

You also ignore the fact that the "overwhelming" support isn't nearl AS overwhelming as it once was (and that some who disapprove were once Democrats and now don't consider themselves to be Dems any more)... Indicating that millions of Democrats no longer approve (as any period of time on DU would demonstrate).

About the reservations the Civil Rights black establishment had about Obama. I doubted it was all jealousy as had been intimated and in fact the main problem here is not race but the universally typical top Dem establishment. At least on our part. I don't think the typical GOP hate voter would understand the "nuance" between traditional black progressivism and a centrist Reagan admirer. They are too busy burying the truth of their own racism.

You really can't fault one individual Dem leader above any other when it comes to the issues, the style, the message, the core beliefs, the dubious political "pragmatism" which was/is the surest road for an illogical GOP populist insurgence. And above all the corrupting influence of money everywhere no matter whether saint or criminal. I am sure that the crowds in the primaries who supported Hillary or others could imagine things turning out pretty much the same. The color of hate is always red, no real object needed. Bowing to corporate influence and the system would vary by degrees not essence. The sad continuity of a bloody inexcusable foreign policy would need someone from the "lefty" side willing to tilt at the Foggy Bottom windmills and somehow rally the people through the walls of corporate Pravda noise.

The situation is the same as it was before the primaries. Get rid of the right radicals. Work for issues and new Dem leadership. No one in the present will see the Promised Land, but we have to move.

I supported Obama early on and was shocked, maybe a little appalled, at the opposition voiced by Andrew Young, who declared Obama 'wasn't ready' and Jesse Jackson, who said He wanted to 'cut off Obama's nuts'. And there was even more. Interesting that you reminded us. Thanks.
