5. But we have to over-vote by 15% to win...
time to end electronic voting.

9. I'm and elections inspector.
I took the training and 'volunteered' for the first time in 2008 to make sure that the vote in my area was kept honest. So much depends on the individuals who work at the polls. I know a man who is a Rush Limbaugh Republican. He registered as a Democrat in order to become an Elections Inspector. When I asked him why, he said he didn't want "unqualified voters to be able to vote." His precinct is one of the few in this small village (10,000) that has a majority of minority voters. I outed him at the BOE, but this is America and they have to take him at his word. This is an area where we need to be mindful and proactive. For the first two years I worked the polls (here in NY a grueling 16+ hour shift) on primary and election day helped every voter who had a dog in the race to exercise their right to vote. This year we have the paper ballot-optical canning type of machine. They did malfunction when it came to counting the vote on primary day when they shut down instead of posting the vote totals. Luckily, there were paper ballots inside the machine that were later counted at the Board of Elections. For every Democrat there is a Republican Elections Inspector when anything is done, and especially so when the vote is counted. The primary was more like a test run for the machines and elections inspecors as well. I did have to insist that the Pug head inspector stop the electioneering going on in front our our precinct. One of the candidates parked a rolling billboard out front and then came inside (with 3 pals) wearing an election button promoting himself--behavior that is strictly against the rules. We shut him down. Only one person of 6 was tolerant of it but he was swiftly he was overruled and the circus made to move in under 5 minutes. Being involved in the system gives an insight you can't get any other way. I voted electronic in NC, and that totally sucked. I voted for Al, but the screen flashed that I had voted for GWB. When I protested I was told to vote again. I voted 3 times and it came up wrong twice. There was no paper trail in that election. Find out which of your local legislators are buying new voting machines and follow the kickback trail. It is up to We the People to insure that elections are fair. That being said, I understand what you mean. That's why I got involved. :hi:

2. What is the count?
I just heard the speaker say that the satellite images show that there were more
people at the "One Nation" rally than were at the Beck rally.

4. Might want to edit your OP title so that more people don't waste their time
Not only is there no number at the link, if you waste a minute of your time listening to the video, you will find that no number is given there either.

7. AND as most people said they paid their own way
they didn't have free busses and lunch set up by the Koch brothers and Rove and Becks groups. WE ARE THE GRASS ROOTS, WE ARE AMERICAN and if the republicans and the tea bags think they are going to "take this country back to their same old crap" they gotta another damn think coming.

13. Would need to know what time those pictures were taken...
Was the photo of Becks rally at the height of turnout and ours before or after the crowd was at its peak?

What time were those pictures taken.

If they were at the height of turnout, our rally was way smaller than I thought.

15. I've seen other photos where there were way more people.
The areas around the reflecting pool were solid with people. No green space around them, and no lawn chairs, like at Whitestock.

18. Judging by the shadows the top pic was before noon
If my memory of the orientation of the Lincoln Memorial is correct, east is left in that pic, so the fact that the sun was still in the east shows this pic was taken early in the event.

14. Looks like buses have just arrived at our rally.
Remember the RW shit machine has had a month to figure out how to lie about the event, Give it 48 hours.

16. Obviously fewer people in the photo from yesterday.....
Not sure what time the event started, but take a look at the shadows in that picture, (coming off the trees on the left side) very long shadows which lead me to believe that it is early in the day.

17. Watching the rally , there was an abrupt drop-off in crowd size around 4PM
even though there were speakers on the podium until about 4:45, IIRC.

My guess is that people were told to be on the bus at 4:05 or be left behind.

20. Good point, if photo was snapped after 4pm
most people would be in the bus already. Not sure which
is the east or west to interpret the long shadows. Could be
morning or evening.

22. I think smart people know the real time to show up is on Election Day

that being said, a nation full of generally satisfied people have no need to show up to protest in Washington
