O'Donnell complains of 'character assassination' (VIDEO)
O'Donnell complains of 'character assassination'
By Jim Acosta and Bonney Kapp, CNN
October 7, 2010 11:33 a.m. EDT

Newark, Delaware (CNN) -- Delaware Republican Senate candidate Christine O'Donnell is asking voters to give her a second look. At a candidate forum sponsored by a group of local Republicans, O'Donnell blamed her campaign's recent troubles on unfair coverage in the "liberal media."

"I've put my name on the line. And I've taken a lot of hits ... a lot of character assassination," O'Donnell said.

A local GOP leader moderated Wednesday night's tightly controlled event, asking the candidate her positions on taxes, spending and the new health care law. O'Donnell did take a few questions from the audience. But she left the forum via a back door and did not stop for interviews with reporters.

O'Donnell has made fewer public appearances since her stunning Tea Party-backed win in the Republican primary three weeks ago. But just days after her victory, HBO comedian Bill Maher unearthed an embarrassing video clip of O'Donnell admitting she had once "dabbled in witchcraft."

In an effort to reboot her campaign, O'Donnell is now running an ad that tells voters "I'm not a witch. ... I'm you."

1. She should be complaining of 'Character Self-Inflicted Wounds'

And didn't she tell her one of her opponents to put on his "man pants"?

5. She directed the man pants comment to Castle
In a separate incident, when her campaign released an ad that implied Castle was homosexual the Castle campaign objected.

O'Donnell then gave one of those "apologies" that went something like..."I never authorized my campaign to say you were homosexual" Effectively, she never apologized for implying that he was a homosexual and then proceeded to use "homosexual" repeatedly in her "apology".

Even after all that the tea-baggers and FOX News then complained when Castle said he wouldn't endorse her in the general. Gee...I wonder why?

2. I actually understand that concept, and wish her well.

Although I posted that story awhile ago.

It is a spiritual concept, and in that it is true for many people.

Anyone read the story I posted on that topic.

I did write a story that is a moral Outer Limits story that can explain love your neighbor concepts with a story of everyone being the same person, although it is metaphor to speak of concepts of all being creations of God.

The story was about a guy allowed to live life over and over, so he chose to be kings, industrialist, and people of much luxury, in the story he always saw a look in the eye of the people he mistreated, and never understood the compassion and sadness, he figured they deserved it.

Then one day when going to live another life, he had no more good lifes to pick, and realized he would have to live all the bad lives also, every one of them, and that is when he started to try and make the world better.

Love your neighbor as yourself.

Beautiful story as metaphor I think, and I have nothing against O'Donnell, except that I disagree with the concepts in much of the Republican party as they are shown on TV.

In my view, a person is not judged by the hand they are dealt, but how they play it, and that is true in poker also.

On the 'character' idea that could come from that.
I avoid delusions like that, since if it was true that people were 'characters' I would set them all free and not control any of them, since that goes against my beliefs, so I do not fall into that trap of thinking someone is a 'character'

4. Didn't think of it at the time, but yeah, the repub headquarters
are 2 doors or so down from the Spirit Halloween. What a wonderful graphic. Somebody has been planting O'Donnell signs around Newark. There have been a ton in the past few days. I'm thinking maybe it's the head of the Young Repubs at the UD who got slammed by Rachel because he tried to talk horn in on her show at the Deer Park, but she stopped the interview when she found out he's not from Delaware and he's not eligible to vote in the DE election.

Soooo tempted to embellish those signs with posterboard witch hats. ;)

6. So the taste of your own medicine isn't what you like? Too bad!
O'Donnell had a bewitching way of character-assassinating Mike Castle in her quest for suckers' money for herself. She can't take the truth... that's been apparent and now it's payback time.

9. Just like Sarah
She constantly belittles others but when somebody returns fire, she's suddenly a victim.
