PA Senate - Toomey (R) 49 - Sestak (D) 39 (Rasmussen)
Edited on Thu Oct-14-10 08:20 AM by FBaggins
Republican Pat Toomey now holds a 10-point lead over Democratic Congressman Joe Sestak, the widest gap between the candidates since early April in Pennsylvania’s U.S. Senate race.

A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Voters in Pennsylvania shows Toomey earning 49% of the vote, while Sestak picks up 39% support. Two percent (2%) prefer some other candidate, but a sizable 10% remain undecided less than three weeks before Election Day. (To see question wording, click here.)

The race now moves from Leans GOP to Solid GOP in the Rasmussen Reports Election 2010 Senate Balance of Power rankings.

This is likely why the DSCC felt it necessary to release their internals. It looks like fundraising is getting tough and Sestak is worried about being "triaged"

4. The poll we saw yesterday wasn't an independent poll.
bigdarryl (IMO) has the correct read. Sestak is likely five points down.

When every poll for 2-3 months shows a candidate down by 3-10 points and the candidate releases an internal poll claiming that he's up, it's actually a sign of desperation - and very likely a need for a cash infusion.

When the poll comes to you with the plea for more cash... this is even more obvious.

9. Agreed. You don't see internal polls unless a candidate is in trouble and trying to
make the argument that they are still competitive and thus deserve funding to win.

7. I saw one yesterday where Sestak was ahead.
Of course we all know Razzypoop is a republican prop so who bothers. They have to put out the republican is ahead, so when the count those electronic boxes already programmed for a republican win, people won't be surprised.

8. And the others are all "republican props" as well?
Marist, Suffolk, Franklin and Marshall, Susquehanna, and Morning Call are all RW poll-manufacturing machines?

10. This is what happens when you let your opponent define you months in advance
Sestak and the DSCC aired almost no ads for months while Toomey was spamming Pa. airwaves with infomercials all but calling Sestak a communist.
