DNC’s Kaine Disses Manchin’s Gun Ad.

DNC’s Kaine Disses Manchin’s Gun Ad.

West Virginia Gov. Joe Manchin’s bid to use a little firepower to stoke his campaign got a big thumbs-down from the head of his party, Democratic National Committee Chairman Tim Kaine.

Asked about Manchin’s latest ad, which has the governor using a hunting rifle to blast a mock version of the Democrats’s cap-and-trade climate bill, Kaine said, “I’m not wild about it.”

In the ad, Manchin promises that he will “take on Washington and the administration to get the federal government off of our backs and out of our wallets.” He also promises to repeal “the bad parts” of the Democrats’ health-care overhaul.

Speaking at a breakfast gathering of reporters sponsored by the Christian Sciene Monitor, Kaine also chastized Manchin for attacking the health bill, which both of the state’s Democratic senators supported earlier this year. The bill, Kaine said, “will do more for West Virginia that probably any other state.”

It is probably good for Manchin to get criticized by the head of the DNC, and, of course, Kaine is right.

I want Manchin to win but I sure liked him a lot better when he was just the Dem Gov of West Virginia. Oh, well, hopefully, he wins and wont act like a complete jackass in the Senate.

1. Somebody has to replace Blanche Lincoln as #1 worthless DINO
Looks like Manchin is auditioning for the role.

2. Actually it probably helps Manchin to have the head of the DNC denounce it
since WVA doesn't really care for national democrats. I guess he gave an honest answer if you are a supporter of President Obama.

3. Yep. If Kaine had called to ask "how can I help?"...
...that's just what Manchin would have asked for.

5. Well for 50 years Dems won most presidential elections in WVA
The unions were solidly democratic from the New Deal and the coal miners were strong dems but they have died off and union membership has declined and while dems still lead in voter rolls they tend to be conservative dems. Things started to change in 2000 with Gore--had he won West Virginia which had up to that time voted for every dem nominee except McGovern and Mondale since 1932 he would have won the election without Florida.
