(R)asmussen Poll--CA Senate: Boxer (D) 49% Fiorina (R) 46%
Incumbent Democrat Barbara Boxer continues to hold the slightest of leads over Republican challenger Carly Fiorina in California’s U.S. Senate race.

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Voters in California shows Boxer with 49% support and Fiorina with 46%. Two percent (2%) prefer another candidate in the race, and three percent (3%) are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

The race remains a Toss-Up in the Rasmussen Reports Election 2010 Senate Balance of Power rankings.

Just over a week ago, Boxer, who is seeking a fourth six-year term, posted a similar 49% to 45% lead over Fiorina, a former CEO of Hewlett-Packard. Boxer has held a small lead in every survey but one since February with 42% to 49% of the vote. Fiorina, in those same surveys, has earned 38% to 47% support.

3. In another state I might say no
since she still struggles to hit 50%... it would still be a potential tossup race.

But I think that the race for governor is opening up enough that Boxer should benefit (that would be an odd ticket to split).

9. Boxer has hit 50%. She hit 50% several weeks ago and stabilized there.
Fiorina is the one who can't seem to gain any traction in her race.

Still, keep your fingers crossed. It ain't over yet.

4. No... the last 8-point lead in a public poll was the end of last month.
The polls in October (two Rasmussen and one Reuters/Ipsos) have all been 3-4 points.

6. Cell phone bias might be skewing this a few points, too.
In other words, Boxer might have a larger lead in reality.

7. Boxer will win 49-45
Most, if not all close statewide races in California fall within that range.

10. I agree.
I cannot fathom anyone with an active brain cell in CA would vote for Fiorina.
