Yet another poll gives Murray the lead in WA Senate race
(I know that Rasmussen and Fox don't want to give up on this race, but yet another independent poll gives Patty Murray a compfortable lead)

Sen. Patty Murray leads Republican challenger Dino Rossi by eight points in the new Washington Poll, with Democrats holding very narrow leads on how voters intend to vote for Congress and which party would best manage the economy.

A proposed state income tax, Initiative 1098, trails in the poll. The survey showed a tight race on Initiative 1100: The measure to privatize liquor sales wins support from 47 percent of those polled, with 49 percent in opposition.

The Washington Poll surveyed 500 likely voters between Oct. 4 and 14. The margin of error was 4.3 percent. The survey was done for KCTS-9 and KPLU Radio and is supervised by University of Washington political scientist Dr. Matt Barreto. The poll has a record of accurately predicting the outcome of initiative battles. It did come up short on one race a year ago, forecasting that businessman Joe Mallahan would be elected Seattle mayor over lawyer-environmentalist Mike McGinn.

A rundown of findings:

Murray has a 50-42 lead in the Senate race, with eight percent undecided. The finding is similar to a CNN/Time Magazine roll released on Wednesday.

Forty-two percent of those polled said they were "certain" to vote for Murray compared with 33 percent "certain" Rossi voters: Four percent lean toward Murray, with Rossi's leaners at 3 percent. Four percent of Murray voters "could change", with six percent of Rossi voters saying they could be swayed.

A "generic ballot" on November races for the U.S. Congress asked voters which party they planned to vote for. Forty-four percent said the Democrats, 41 percent favored the Republicans, with 15 percent undecided. (The Elway Poll, released earlier this week, showed Democrats with a slightly wider margin.)

The persistent Great Recession is blamed more on the 43rd president than the 44th. "Thinking about the last two administrations," the poll asked who is most responsible for the economy over the last few years. Fifty-four percent said George Bush is to blame, 35 percent Barack Obama, while six percent said both are to blame. Four percent answered "Neither - someone else."

1. That 35% are the diehard Republicans....
Every time you see an inexplicably ignorant opinion with that percentage attached to it, it is those numbskulls.
