Bill Clinton to campaign for shuler
http://www.news-record.com/content/2010/10/19/article/bill_clinton_to_campaign_with_shuler
"Former President Bill Clinton is participating in a campaign event for Rep. Heath Shuler.
Clinton is scheduled to appear with the Democratic lawmaker Thursday in Asheville. Shuler is seeking re-election in the 11th District covering western North Carolina."

This is one of the blue dogs that progressives were saying needed to be primaried. He is one of the most bluest dogs in my state. Oh well.

1. I take it he's in trouble
No one should be surprised he's one of the bluest of the blue dogs. The Republicans also recruited him

2. guess we can count on him 55%
of the time.
Just can't count on him for the big, major stuff, ie HCR, climate, immigration, DADT....etc

9. That may be true
But when legislation like, "Honor Dog Walkers Month" and "National Pet Week" comes up we'll be able to count on his yes vote

3. What, no outrage? I can imagine the whining if President Obama had been campaigning for Shuler.

4. Shuler is awful
and frankly I think we could do better in that district given Asheville being in it. That said, he is the Democrat in this race and if Clinton thinks he can help then so be it. I just hope someone helps Ethridge if he is in trouble as he is better than Shuler.

5. I can say the same thing about Kendric Meek
"he is the Democrat in this race and if Clinton thinks he can help then so be it."

When it is all said and done shuler is what shuler is. A sorryazz DINO that wipes the democratic agenda with his shoe. I'm more disappointed in kissell. He rode Obama's coat tail for all it's worth and turned his back on HCR.

6. I wish Clinton would come to Az and campaign for the blue dogs here.
It's pretty bad when you have to hope the blue dogs win because they are better than the teabaggers they're running against.

8. I feel you on that
and I'm in NC.

The rethugs purpose in life is to make Obama's life HELL! If it means bringing govrnt to a standstill and working and middle class people suffering so be it. It irks me to no end, that there are dems who are will to give them a hand in doing this. shuler is that guy and he will brag about it in a campaign letter.

10. If he had been primaried the you would have had a Repub in Congress
Shuler is in a very conservative district and if he wasn't a blue dog then he would never have won.

12. Exactly right.
That is also true for pretty much most of them. And, without all those Blue Dogs, we'd have "Speaker Boehner" rather than Speaker Pelosi. Like 'em or not, the Democrats would not have a majority without them. Without them, no committee chairmanships, either.

13. At least Shuler has a 86% voting rating on pro- environmental legislation
League of Conservation Voters has funded a TV ad for him due to his votes to protect the environment, promote clean energy and reduce pollution. By comparison his Republican challenger has taken over $700,000 in financial assistance from oil industry lobby for TV ads attacking Shuler for his clean energy votes.
