Who supports Speak Pelosi?
The GOP and their flunkies are really going out of their way to vilify her these days. She still has my support.

Besides, does anyone really want to see the human Cheeto as our new Speaker? Ugh...

1. Seems every Speaker gets trashed.
Edited on Wed Oct-20-10 07:00 AM by safeinOhio
I just don't understand why she is so hated. When I ask people that dislike her they just say they can't stand her and offer nothing concrete. I think she is great.

10. I know! I know!
She's a woman.
And she's from San Francisco.
And, um, she's a woman.
That's pretty much it, I think.

17. AND because the Reich-wing media tells their
Moronic (or is it now "Moranic"?) minions to hate her.

No reason. No thought to it. Just HATE!

2. She has been an excellent Speaker.
Keeping in mind that there were some right here that have gone out of their way to vilify her over her term as well. I have no doubt that she will continue to be Speaker in January. "They" will not, IMO, take control.

3. I still support her, especially with all the venom
coming from the other side.

I was/am disappointed with the "impeachment is off the table" stance that she took concerning our previous war crime administration...

4. I'm not thrilled with it either, but...
Look at the lunatics that have come out of the woodwork since the election. There are an awful lot of crazy people out there. Some of them, including at least one Senate candidate (Angle) have threatened assassination or other physical violence if they don't get their way. Just imagine what it would be like if their own were brought up on war crimes. I don't like her stance, but I DO understand it.

26. Pelosi is responsible .
If she would have done her job and impeached Bush maybe they wouldn't be so free to come out of the woodwork.

30. The Republicans come "out of the woodwork" rain, snow, or shine
I don't necessarily agree with her decision not to impeach Bush but whether or not doing so would've cowed the Republicans or shut them down is debatable.

5. Over Boehner? Any day. But...
Edited on Wed Oct-20-10 07:12 AM by mikelgb
Pelosi will never have my full support because of her political strategy to let Bush run himself, but more importantly our country, into the ground rather than investigate, impeach and indict.

Policy of never look back is the most cynical and depressing policy of the Democratic Party, continued to this day.

11. How ironic Dems may lose House when they valiantly carried the water for Obama's agenda
Obama was right when he said he did not 'do the politics' for healthcare and the stimulus. Letting the Senate take forever with healthcare was incredibly damaging.

12. People don't base their choice of a Representative on who will end up being Speaker of the House
Edited on Wed Oct-20-10 08:38 AM by slackmaster
People care mostly about their own interests, and those of the district in which they live.

13. She's a lightning rod. It's fine. The right-wing decided they would vilify her.
They do it to the Senate leadership, too. They did it to Daschle. And they have been doing it to Reid.

21. I didn't like the way she set the table.
But I recognize that she has one of the
hardest jobs in the world, and that some
decisions are not hers to make.

On balance, I think she's done a remarkable
job for a Progressive that has to reconcile
legislation between craven New Dems, daft Blue Dogs,
progressive reformers and the republican appeasing
"bi-partisan" administration.

If everyone has a problem with her, she must
be doing something right!

29. They've been trying to vilify her since 2006
Ever since it seemed likely that she might become the next speaker, the right-wing has been attempting to make her the next left-wing "boogey (wo)man". Will it work THIS year when it didn't work in 2006 or 2008? It's anybody's guess I suppose but how many average people outside of her district know her enough to be terrified of her let alone have an opinion of her based on anything but right-wing innuendo she's somehow "bad" for the country?
